I've been working on this for over a year now. I've finally completed it when I accquired about 50 brass buttons. I made the coat, vest, shirt, hat, and baldric in this picture. I wanted an outfit that I could wear at the rennisance festival that was fancy, but not an outfit that would have the homosexuals hitting on me. You can be a really fancy pirate, and it won't give off a gay vibe. As opposed to wearing a really fancy renissance costume with tights and all that... Either way, I think this out fit is kick ass cool.Related content

Actually, I wouldn't care if someone thought I was gay. I'd get a kick out of it. What I don't want is gay guys coming up and repeatedly hitting on me. It would simply be a waste of our time. I have seen some outfits with tights, lace, and purple ribbons that give an incredible homosexual vibe. It also seems that with periodic clothing, the fancier you go, the more "ify" the appearance of your sexuality becomes. I blame it on our modern sensibilites of fashion. For example: lace is typically found on modern women's garments and a man who wears it may often be considered feminine (same with tights). What I wanted was something fancy, elaborate, refined, and yet, at the same time, intimidating with a hint of barbarism. I'm not too certain if this actually achieved what I was after, but I like it. Its just about as fancy as my suit of plate armor, and it is more comfortable. But any way, thanks for commenting. Of all the things in my gallery, this is the one that most people comment on. Mayhaps I should post some picture of other things that I have sewn.

That's awesome! I love being bugged about the gay thing... err... that didn't come out right. I love being bugged by women! MY problem is that I can't always tell if someone is joking or not, and most people can't tell if I'm joking or serious. Take my online dating profile for example. It includes such wonderful phrases as "I be lookin' for a busty wentch to share me booty with," and "Me hobbies include walkin' the gang plank." I'm usually better at realizing when someone is teasing me, but I didn't sleep much last night.

Very nice. What materials did you use? In my experience how people view you is 25% about garb and 75% attitude, and from what I can see you have them both in spades. This is wonderful.

Materials... Oh golly... I can't quite remember, but I think the jacket is made out of a type of polyester blend. The vest under it is made of cotton. The trim was made from something shiny and the buttons are brass. The hat is wool and the feathers are from a feather bola that I sewed around the edge of it.
