Description This is something silly I quickly drew for 's mini contest, "Muggle Studies." The idea is to show the magical world's point of view of muggles they don't understand. I thought I'd use my idea of how people like Molly Weasley, who have no idea how muggles "get by without magic," are really naive and really don't think about how things work. They just point their wands and don't think of what is going on. Muggles, however, either understand how things work or are at least curious. This is why Arthur Weasley is my favorite Weasley. If magic disappeared, he would be one of the few who would know how to better adapt while the others would most likely not make it. He might even be looked upon as a leader. Dumbledore, too, would probably adapt.

*snort* this is so true. Remember in PoA when Ron called Number four? *snorts again*

Hey, your name sounds kind of like Aragog...

Ah, the old "fellytone" incident. It's like, "Come on! I know you probably have never used one, but you really can't say it? Really?" It's like a muggle meeting one of them and saying, "Oh, cool! You're one of those whizes. Is that your midgical windy wand?"

Lol! My name is Erik (middle name Roger). Though, Erikrog kind of does sound like Hagrid's stupid spider who he thinks makes all the rest of the herd like humans so he bumbles in the way in book seven when they are trying to defend themselves from being KILLED from them. "G't 'way from 'em! You'll h'rt 'em!" But when Hedwig (the owl he bought Harry) died (because of him), he just says, "Never mind." Hagrid.

Yeah... You know, I think Hagrid may have liked animals that are thought to be so dngerous and monstrous that he didn't think were, because he could relate to them.

I mean, think of the average impression od Giants. Hagrid is part Giant, and so has probably been thought dangerous, and Monstrous, himself. He knows the he himself isn't like that, and so he thinks that other creatures with such a reputation are like that, too.

And, animalks would'nt judge Hagrid because of his heritage... They woiuld judge him by how he treated them. So if he was really nice, then the animalsd would like and accept him, whereas humans aren't so good at looing past appearances and stereotypes.

Just a thought.

Oh, you're exactly right. It's just...gah...I started getting annoyed by that character since PoA. Just ever so slightly in PoA and GoF. After that it just got worse and by DH I couldn't stand him. What annoys me is how Harry never even saw how dangerous he was. Even Ron noticed this in CoS after the spiders attacked him. Harry was so defensive when people would say he's a horrible teacher or an "oaf." They were KIND OF right. He was always getting them into dangerous situations, even as early as book one with that baby dragon (which bit Ron). Blast Ended Skrewts? Visit my half brother giant in the FORBIDDEN FOREST?

But you're right with what you said. And I know that he's a big fan favorite, too. He was for me in the first two books.

You do have a strong point, there. Hagrid WAS inadvertantly a danger to the students.... Especially Harry and Romione. (haha, I'm sure I'm not the first, but I just thought that name up. XD)

Yeah,I hadn't ever realy thought about the reason for the whole monster obsession thing until you said that. O.o Weird what I can come up with in, like, MINUTES.

Ayway, I see your point, and I agree to an extent.

How do we get by without magic?
The only advantage I can think of that we have over them is the multiple uses of electricity.

And mechanics, technlogy, science, and medicinces. Molly Weasley is confused as as to what stitches are. Perhaps they can wave a wand, but muggles discover how to do things out of their own curiosity. What happens when a magical person gets pneumonia, tooth cavities, diabetes, needs CPR, or gets breast cancer? Sure, they have their own magicl methods that are better than muggle technology and muggles would find interesting. They would find it more interesting than wizards, is the point.

Hahaha perfect! I've always wondered about why the wizarding world is stuck with such traditional ways of doing things, like using quills and ink. But the again, they do have radios, which makes me wonder if muggles got the radio idea from the wizards, or if wizards tampered with muggle radios.

That is true, they do have radios! I never thought of that. You would think they could then make two way communicators like a phone with that same kind of magical wireless.

Hmm, it would be funny if the muggles got the radio idea from them. Who knows how far back they have been using radios?

According to wikipedia, radios (at least muggle ones) have a debatable date of origin, but patents for parts of them go back to the 1890's. However, some guy figured out that radio waves existed in the late 1870's, so clearly it took a while for people to figure out how to channel them. The first AM transmission was in 1906, and the first news broadcast was in 1920.

I'm going to bet that wizards probably had the radios first and that muggles happened upon them because the Ministry wasn't protecting them very securely since they most likely didn't expect muggles to find them. Their stations are probably the ones we only get static on.

PS, I go to UC.
