I'm bummed that I didn't get any decent shots this last time the Perseids came around. I saw tons of really cool multicolored streaks, about one every 2-5 minutes, but they never happened within the view of where I had my camera pointed at :-/
One of the falling meteors was bright enough to light up the ground and leave a streak of ionized gas in the sky for a good 15-20 seconds.

Oh fuck yeah! I was just out tonight shooting too, but could't find a good dark spot to set-up. A 50mm lens doesn't help either.

a 50mm/f1.8 lens is exactly what i used. I just snapped away for an hour, and got about 50 10-30 second shots, and this was the very last one i got. it was good enough that i just decided to call it a night and go home.

I used my 50mm/f2. My 35mm lens is not as sharp.
