What I see in this picture is immediatly highlighted by the animal's crown. The lighting on this is stunning, the illuminating backgrownd and the forest feature is anything but drab. The forestry texture and fairies floating in the air gives the artwork more atmosphere, and the creativity is something that will not be ignored.
The symbolic meaning could've been etched out a teensy bit more, but don't let that turn you away from the fact that the artwork is absolubtly stunning in every shape, fashion and form. The meaning behind this picture would have to be of the nature of beauty, as it is shown greatly by this creature's longing for a free will, gone from the hasty eyes of the inturder, and the bullet of the hunter.
To conclude, I would have to say that this is a beautiful capture of what our nature has to offer, that we shouldn't be ignorant to our outside world but we are because we're all caught up in the big 'rush' that pulls us away.

Wow how beautiful! I don't know exactly why but itΒ reminds me of the forest god from Hayao Miasaki's "Princess Mononoke" (awesom movie!!).
I guess it's because of the excellent and fascinating lighting and the large amount of adorable details like these ladybugs and flowers on the antlers. This, along with the deer's thoughtful gaze, creates a wonderful fantastic and mysterious atmosphere which makes everything feel like it belongs to a fairytale, just like the feeling I get watching the already mentioned movie. ;D
However, I wonder why you chose this title in particular. Is it because so peaceful scenes and untouched places like this one aren't seen very often nowadays?

one trick I can tell you is to fill a layer with deep black, switch its mode to linear or color dodge and then paint with a color you like on it. The black around it will make the light glow nicely.

The deer-peacock creature and his shinning horns (more like a crown, such wonderful it is) are beautiful and magic in every single detail, the background and the sparkles fit perfectly this piece.
