Description The knights in Leif & Thorn have a general ensemble for everyday wear , and more obvious armor for serious battles. And when it's time to get fancy...they get fancy.

Some of the trimmings are order-specific; Thorn here is modeling the sash and adornments of the Order of the Chalice. (...I'm not 100% sure about the name, but haven't been able to think of a snappier one.) He's not wearing any of his individual medals or decorations, mostly because I haven't designed them yet.

If I may, there have been lots of unusually named orders throughout history,  and more so in fiction. My favorite are orders named after the symbols given to Virtues - faith, aggape, charity - Order of the Cross, Order of the Heart, Order of the Anchor. No reason you can't adopt something  similar in symbolism.

Yeah, I don't mind the name being weird. It just has to be a name I like!

There's no equivalent to Christianity in-universe, so I'm trying to stay away from having them treat crosses, etc. like important and meaningful symbols. Order of the Anchor...might work. It sounds like it should be a navy-specific honor, but, hmm. I'll think about it.

Sorry, I worded that poorly. Rather than religious orders, perhaps the order is founded on specific virtues,  truth loyalty,  ect. Each virtue would have an in world symbol associated with it, and the order would be named after the symbol, like everyone knows what the red cross/red crescent is. Or the symbol of the bull for Merrill Lynch. The nice thing about symbols is that since it's your world they can mean anything you like. (And you have another excuse for funny dialog between Leif and Thorn.)

Hmm. This is the order you get into by learning to draw a heartsword, so maybe their virtue is self-knowledge? Or emotional stability? "Order of the Anchor" might be too literal, in that case....

What is a symbol that the society would recognize as a steady, stalwart symbol?

Well, now that you've asked, I'm blanking on what symbols *our* society would recognize as steady and stalwart....

Pillars? Oak trees? Rocks? The Order of the Mountain. Or maybe the Order of the Mount, sounds more old-fashioned, but could also be referring to horses...or could sound like unintentional innuendo.

Does Leif's language have different word for mount - horse or mount- mountain?  Seems to me that you could have fun with that.
