Very cool! I wonder, can I please use that frame for my website? I am making a website called punk nouveau and it will be ethical and healthy focused site, think "solarpunk" and alternative lifestyles and you got it!

I'm afraid I can't let people uses this frame as free stock. That's one of the restrictions on the element sets I used.

It might be okay if you also bought the sets from Tigers-stock , in which case you would've paid for the right to create and use the same frame. But you'd have to ask them!

Wow, that's kind of weird. Those designs are decades old, almost a century really. I suppose they are using slight variations, but it seems out of the legal realm of ownership doesn't it?

Thanks though. I was willing to pay you for using it, but if you're in trouble from the element set maker, then is a lose lose for us both. I'll just design my own. I have awesome art nouveau design inspiration around. I am just trying to save time hehee

Yeah, you can't copyright the idea of a circle or a swirl, but if you make a specific swirl graphic, you get to decide the terms under which people use it. And as you say, saving someone time is a valuable thing in its own right.

If you were willing to pay me, then please offer to pay the original graphic maker Tigers-stock instead! This frame doesn't just use their graphics, it's also inspired by other frames they've made. So I really couldn't have come up with it without them.

It's not really weird at all. These are not copies of elements taken from someone elses work. They are my own individual designs made from scratch. I own the legal (c) on them. It's like saying that because someone has painted a picture in the impressionist style, its weird they should expect to own the (c) as the style it is painted in is old. I make and use these frames in my own artwork. I choose to make them available to other artists to save them time and effort. It is my prerogative to make them available under a limited licence only. I'm sorry you feel it is unreasonable for me to have some control over my work

You are right though. There are LOADS of great inspirations in nouveau and deco designs out there and you should have no trouble finding something to suit your needs. If you just need a quick nouveau style frame there are loads available for free on my stock site as long as you are willing to follow the basic rules of leaving a comment with a link to show me what you have done and putting a line of credit somewhere on your site. However if you feel these rules are also unreasonable I would rather you didn't use my stock.
