Description This is a drawing based on the sprite where he's all happy-go-lucky in Earthbound aka MOTHER2.

Pants instead of shorts? Well they don't look much like shorts in the sprite, but the sprite is awful XD, and I just felt like pants would look cool BD

Four fingers? I was thinking Simpson's lol

I fell in love with Ness from watching him in the Sub Space Emissary scenes in Super Smash Brothers Brawl.

He's just the cutest thing, and so is Lucas =3

Funny, I like this interpretation.
If Ness peaked your interest in Brawl, I highly recommend his game: EarthBound. (Mother 2 in Japan, as I'm sure you know.)

It's my all-time favorite game for a reason, and his appearance in Brawl becomes that much more interesting.

After realizing everything he's gone through, the Subspace Emissary seems like nothing. He's used to being petrified since he can be diamondized in his game (Kind of like being frozen in Pokemon) and worse: mushroomized.

If you have played it, there is a fan translation project already in progress to translate the GBA title: Mother 1+2 for the Western world.

You can visit EarthBoundCentral.Com to check on its status, as well as other awesome tidbits about the series. (Like the fact that the game has the song "Tequila" play throughout battles early on in the game, and that the game's creator, Itoi, also made Animal Crossing and voiced a character in the movie: Spirited Away.)

Sorry if that wall of text was a bit much, but that's just how much passion this game can instill!

I'm almost finished playing MOTHER actually, and I'm playing MOTHER2 on the Wii with the power of WADs 8D

I'm also playing MOTHER3 on my computer with the Starmen.net fan translation XD

When I drew this, I hadn't played any earthbound yet, and my only knowledge of him was from brawl, and I played with him on melee, but he was fucking hard to control XO, still how he comes in teleporting in the opening is hilarious and awesome, and playing MOTHER(1) was really awesome figuring out where that animation comes from ^_^

I'm a big earthbound fan now, and I've done much more MOTHER stuff lately, don't be afraid to look in the gallery

I definitely did take a walk through your gallery before even writing you that!

I have Mother 2 & 3 on my hacked Wii as well.
I had to do it, Nintendo.
You forced my hand when you refused to release EarthBound on the Virtual Console. Tsk tsk.

I mained Ness in Melee and played competitively.
Because nobody had played against a skilled Ness user in competitive play, they had no idea what to expect and I had a huge advantage. His control was... Unique. At one point, I realized he was the only character I could play comfortably because I had become so accustomed to his movement and powers. I still get a thrill for every PK Thunder2 I nail, and end with an "Okay!"

*Which came from the opening part of EarthBound, where creator Itoi's voice was recorded without him knowing and put in the game every time you say "OKAY" as you name your party. (Sounds kind of like "Okeska" because of his accent.)

Now I have fun hacking the ROM to change the sprites to my own creations (still retaining the style, of course) and replacing characters with my friends.

I, too, have ripped Ness/Lucas' textures from Brawl and plan on making much more from them. I have the texture used on the Yo-Yo, for example, and plan on making them into REAL decals for REAL Yo-Yo's. Pretty slick, yeah?

Tell me what you think as you play through the game, I've played it countless times since I was five years old.

I was just brawling someone that always beats the crap out of me in brawl whenever he plays fox or falco and I play Lucas. Well I owned him and his falco-playing friend with Lucas, and with style too , pays off to use and hone a character people think is weak because it's one of those lightweights that get tossed around and his recovery move is awkward, to hell with them, Lucas is mine bitches XD

so THAT's where the Okay came from XDDD

I have some texture hacks, but I never got into doing them myself, I have plenty of other things to do.

Mother...omg, all the funny, even if this is pretty stoiic, it has a soul, lol hippies. Mother 2 ewwwww, his mom's lips look like a vagina, but ness is sooooo cute ^^, Mother3 wow, this is a truly well thought out story and game, it's filled with emotion and style. I've yet to experience enough mother3 though.

Indeed, Fox and Falco even stay in one place for a moment for you to spike them when they try to recover. (Lucas's spikes are his back aerial and down air's final kick, not as powerful as Ness' but still impressive.)

Be nice!
Ness' mom's only crime is the worst haircut of the three mothers of Mother! XD

Ness' side taunt came from his Melee victory pose, too, by the way. There is so much about the game put into Brawl that you woundn't believe it if you hadn't played the games! You can tell Sakurai gave Ness special attention for his Smash appearances when even popular favorites like Mario, Link, Pikachu, and Donkey Kong lack the sort of attention to each and every move.

I happen to like Mother 2 the best so far, and Mother 3 right below it. Mother 3 feels very much like a Mother game, but isn't as 1990's meets 1950's horror enough for me. (Aliens, Zombies, Dinosaurs, The Blob, Cults, etc.) That was distinctly one of my favorite things about EarthBound. That aside, I PK Love Mother 3 to death!
