I really like the murky aspect of this as it looks like she's literally drowning. The black and white colours really creates an atmosphere.

This is really cool actually. I love the blurring at the top and the corners of things, it makes it harder to focus which really lends itself to the atmosphere and the expression on his face. It's actually quite emotional. He looks hopeless, it's actually quite sad. Beautifully done. :3

Hi, I´m here from the game comment tag hosted by the group and my tag word was "loneliness"
What I like:
- your choice of perspective. I really
- the coloration - I like the fact that you only used black and white which creates a really dark atmosphere.
- the atmosphere of the picture (see the point above)
- the floating hair - it looks really realistic.
- the space for making own thoughts. Since there is not that much description one can make a lot of own thoughts about this pictures (see the questions below) and that´s wonderful!
What I think you could improve:
- I would have liked to read more in the description than "Comments appreciated". I always like to read descriptions to get some more facts about the picture or some more of your thoughts about it even if it´s just a few sentences.
And now, there are only a few questions left:
What is this thing floating from the eye? Is it blood or something else? And if it´s blood is there a reason why it is floating from the eye? Is there a little backstory to this piece? And what are those twirls in the upper right of the pictures? Are those eyes or only parts of the hair?
All in all, this is a really good drawing - keep it up!
Your tag is "fear" and you will be looking through s gallery - have fun!

Thanks for the comment.
I like to leave the description minimal on these kinds of pieces minimal so that the viewer can come up with there own interpretation of what it's supposed to mean and form whatever emotional connection they want. For some people it could be a very deep piece about life's struggles, for others it could be something spooky and fun to look at. I don't want the viewer to focus on what I was thinking when making the piece but more so what THEY feel when they interact with it. I usually only talk about what the piece means to me if asked, which brings me to your questions.
The thing floating from the eye could either be blood or ink, in general it's supposed to represent something polluting the water and making it dark, it could also be the source of the water itself. It's coming from the eye because it can also represent tears.
This piece doesn't really have a backstory, but it is part of a larger body of work, and reuses some elements I established in those pieces. Despite not talking about it much I do put a lot of my own symbolism in these kinds of pieces. In this --> mentalparasite.deviantart.com/… Piece from my old account I used water to kind of represent sadness, stress or general overwhelming circumstances that are threataning to drown the charicter. In a more literal sense the character is kind of drowning in there own tears. The eyes made of hair in the background of this piece are from this --> mentalparasite.deviantart.com/… piece, the eyes are suposed to represent a fear of judgment, people seeing the charicters strugles and thinking their weak or over dramatic or lazy. The last kind of symbolism I put in this piece and most of my piece like this is how one or more facial features is hidden, missing, or unnatural. It's suposed to give a sense of incompleteness, representing that the characters not a whole person themself but one aspect of a person's emotions. That a person wouldn't feel this way ALL the time.

I love this so much. Im not to great at digital painting (yet) so I can really appreciate a really well painted piece. And I really have a soft spot for these black and white / grey ones, they are so simplistic and complicated at the same time. You did all of that! Bravo!
