Oh my, does this bring back memories! Wonderful comp and I agree that color is the way to go.
I had friends that saw some of our Greece pics and they thought we added filters to make the sky bluer or the white whiter but we didn't..the colors really are that brilliant.

Beautifully captured. I like how you've got the structure composed--the focal points seem to stay on the right, and in so doing, keeps the picture interesting.
I have to admit, color really makes your series of Mykonos pictures. While I know you posted the B and Ws just to show the contrast, I think the color ones have more oomph. It's not every day people see blues that intense, contrasted against sunlight on a white structure.

Yeah, B&W sometimes can show things color absolutely can't. In some cases, color makes the image. But in other cases, taking the color out brings out things we wouldn't have noticed otherwise. I don't see that as pretentious--just an artistic choice.
