Hello, commenting on behave of ProjectComment ´s Big comment contest.
I like the composition of the drawing. I think that it´s well balanced and it gives both pumpkins and human enough space, with keeping some blank space for background too, so the drawing doesn´t feel too crowded.
The shading looks good too, I think that this sketchy shading (dunno how to call it, I mean the lines you used to shade picture with) fits to simple illustration like this well. Maybe there could be a line or two of extra shading on his right arm too, because it seems a bit unshaded compared to the rest of drawing.
Another great thing is that you added little interesting details into the drawing. I especially like those spiders who are crawling/falling out of the bowl, they bring some dynamic into the drawing and I think that their attempt to escape is a funny too.
As for the anatomy, I think that you captured the bending down pose well, but the pose of his hands isn´t completely natural. At least to me, it seems that the right hand is very rigid and I think that it would look more relaxed if it was bend a bit at his elbow. I can imagine that you wanted to draw it straight, but it just seems too straight and still. After all, he´s using that hand to feed the pumpkins, so there should be a bit of sense of motion in hand´s pose.

Thanks for your comment and feed back. I do see what you are talking with his hands. I will keep that in mind for my other drawings. Thanks again!

Hi, I'm from ProjectComment
The image is amusing and conveys the main idea well. I think the best part is that you made these pumpkins look like adorable pets, I love them a lot! Would definitely keep one xD So, the first impression and the way image doesn't need words to be understandable is great.
The emotion on the owner's face and pumpkin smiles reads very well, which is good
I think that the overall comic style looks neat. I like the traditional styled line, it looks lively and light. And I love the simplicity of this. On the other hand you add some finishing touch by giving textures and small details like those patches on happy owner's pants and a bit of shading, so this look complete. The pants are slippers are perfect
I say "owner" cause actually I can't figure for sure whether the person is a guy or a woman - I see a woman, am I right?..
The anatomy of the owner seems to be a problem at places. Placement of the details on the arms and shape of hands, as well as face features seem to be sloppy. They don't need to be perfect for such a simple drawing of course, but these places look more lacking, while the body, legs and feet, as well as the pumpkins, look quite masterful (in caricature sense, but still), compared to these places. I also love how you did the spiders.
Another minor shortcoming is the motion lines under the pumpkins - they are understandable, but a bit stiff, both shape and outline. Yet having motion lines at all is a good idea, they make the picture more lively. But swift light strokes would look better perhaps.
In presentation sense I recommend fixing the contrast and cleaning the scan/photo, cause white clean background would look more professional and it wouldn't take much effort with such a good linework. The fact that you use watermark suggests that you consider this a fairly serious work.
I know that being inktober this is undoubtedly a quick drawing, so for a speedy one it's actually very neat. Good job!

Hello! Commenting from :
I would say overall this is a very interesting piece! The concept is quite intriguing, and it gives off a happy, yet also somewhat spooky vibe. The way you inked the picture is also quite effective, as the shadows adds good contrast to both the person and the pumpkins.
The main thing I think you could improve on is the pose and anatomy of the person. Right now the pose he is in feels kind of awkward and uncomfortable (it kinda looks like he's doing a wall squat tbh). One way to help with this is to take reference from pictures or real life. Look up a pose that is similar to the one you have in mind, or perhaps do your pose in front of the mirror. This helps you understand the general idea of how the pose is supposed to look, which will help with making them look more natural. The same can be said with anatomy, as looking at references and studying how the body moves and works can help you improve the way you draw it. Learning anatomy can also help with poses, as by learning how the human body works you also learn the ways in which the body bends and moves around, which can then help you create more natural and less awkward looking poses.
Hopefully this helps you, and I hope you continue making great artworks like this in the future! (> v <)*

I have a bunch of small dogs and that's kinda where I got the idea from. They are tiny, hungry little monsters that pretty much bounce around like little rubber balls until they get fed or tummy rubs lol
