In ancient times, back when Yazzerra was split between the five nations of old, the head of the Pyrus swarm fell to assassination without announcing an heir, leaving their three spawns to decide who should rule the nation of Pyrus. The three Draggolphs, known as Thar, Quarn, and Kazkan, soon found themselves unable to find any compromise.

Thar argued as the oldest, they had the most experience to rule a nation. Quarn argued for a council, which had never before been seen in Pyrus before. And Kazkan? Well, Kazkan was content with ruling a single city, not wanting to rule a nation on their own. Their city prospered under Kazkan's rule, but grew fearful of the growing tensions between the growing factions that gathered behind Thar and Quarn. Civil war seemed inevitable, so Kazkan called for a peaceful meeting to settle the matters once and for all.

But the meeting did not go as well as Kazkan had planned.

"Have you forgotten why Yurwai was killed?!" Thar roared. They almost blended in to the hallway with their dark, volcanic stone colored pelt cracked with glowing orange crackles like veins of lava. The magma channels on either side of the hallway seethed and churned when they spoke, for their element was strong. It always has been. "Aquas sent an assassin after our eha! They need to be punished, with war,"

"War is never the answer," Quarn said in their smooth, silver tongued voice. The horns on their peach-orange head looking like a miniature crown. Not that Draggolphs knew what crowns were, they wore collars instead. "You spoke of burning their jungles to the ground and hunting everyone with gills and fins! Which, if you had not noticed, includes me and Kazkan?"

"Maybe if you had listened to me, none of this would be happening," Thar snapped their teeth and huffed out their anger in a plume of smoke through their nostrils. "I saw the signs. I knew Aquas was planning something-"

"Aquas told us they had never meant for Yurwai to be killed!" Quarn countered with a lash of their spiked tail. "This was supposed to be a alliance to aid with whatever Plainz is planning... But then our eha was murdered. And now everything is spiraling downhill, and it is you who refuses to listen, Thar,"

"Test me not, lest your face be covered in burning spit," Thar hissed, and through aura the other two could feel the tension rise. They could feel Thar's reach for violence, but it never got that far. "You want to go into some huge convoluted scheme to root out the killer when a whole nation of killers sits to the north-"

For Kazkan whipped around, standing high on their hind legs and roaring our a plume of bright, hot flame that engulfed the hallway. The flames danced as Kazkan spoke in a booming voice, stunning both Thar and Quarn into silence.

"FOOLS! The both of you! Fools to the very end! You both are tearing apart our nation for your selfish desires. Have you not seen how our fellow Draggolphs gather behind you and your words, attacking each other and threatening war upon one another?!" The looks upon their faces told Kazkan that they, in fact, did not notice this turn of events outside of their own quarrels. "Both of you are so focused on yourselves that you have lost sight of what it means to be a true Draggolph leader! We provide, we protect, and we support our nation and swarm with our lives! You both have failed in every aspect of such,"

Kazkan turned to Quarn, fire all around them and flitting through their teeth with every word. "Your plan to infiltrate Aquas would very well end in disaster. It would spring forth a new set of internal conflicts that would destroy our internal stability!"

Before Thar could speak any snide remarks, Kazkan turned and started on them as well. "And your war-obsessed mind is clouded with revenge! Soon your body will show if you do not stop and think! Think about what damage Aquas could do to us, how many will lose their families in a brutal war,"

Kazkan slammed their front paws to the ground, making the ground tremble. Neither of the other siblings had known Kazkan had this much power. "I will take the mantle," Kazkan announced. "I will fight both of you for it if I need to. And I will confine you both to the twin cities in the north of our continent until you both see what it is to run a nation. The right way."
