Poor Ciel. So desperate for rescue he sold his immortal soul. Then the demon scrubs him too hard in the bath, makes the water too hot for his wounded skin, feeds him overly rich food, etc. Sebastian isn't pitiful. He's just playing guardian and parent to a kid. Was he deperate for servitude to Ciel? I doubt it. He just wanted a way to kill time and get a soul for a meal. Ciel is the one who's damned.
