yeah I found that the deadpan sweeney wasnt very true to the show, but its BURTON so deadpan always wins. and Lovett wasnt insane enough. but HBC also 100% wins. I think I like her Lovett best, acutally...

Well, if you go on YouTube you can watch the whole play w/ George Hearn and Angela Lansbury! AND You can also see the Sweeney Todd in Concert with George and PattiLuPone! IF Sweeney is touring anytime soon... I'd LOVE to go see it live! Sadly, I only have the DVD of George and Angela! Ah well, WATCH THE PLAY! IT'S AMAZING!!!

heh, I've been guilty of YouTubing anything LuPone/Cerveris (totally my favorite version) and I rented the Hearn/LuPone concert (CD) and the DVD for the Hearn/Lansbury version. I can't stop feeding the Sweeney craze lately. I'm so happy that you love all of that too!!

YES I SAW PART OF THE YOU TUBE. But honestly, Johnny Depp just plain kicked sexy goth ass. The movie and play are sooo different though. The movie has been CLEARLY Burtonized, and I found that in the movie, I 100% think Mrs. Lovett and Sweeney should get it on, but with the play, Lovett was just a stalker lunatic.
It must be that whole, Oh HBC IS MY WIFE thing that Tim had goin on.

Hehe, I love Mrs. Lovett! Lansbury did such a grand job of her in the play... so did LuPone though... her vocals are AMAZING! But with the movie soundtrack, Helena adds something inredible to Mrs. Lovett... quite haunting. LOVE IT!!!
I'm thinking I must go see Sweeney then... who doesn't love a good Burton/Depp/Carter movie?
