And I have a question now:

Is the water in the city the same type of water that the girl is in? Is it the water that seeps out a little bit every time someone dies and in put in their coma-state until they live again? Kind of a bit of their essence, floating around in Synnarru?

Oh, gosh, I really want to read the story if you write it. If you need an editor, just tell me! I'd LOVE to edit it. That, besides being the writer, is the best job in the writing business. You get the first look.

You should really go on with this. This is my overall fave art piece, especially now that I've read the backstory that you have. Yet again, I say I would absolutely LOVE to read it.

estella In reply to sequoia-muffin-chan [2006-08-25 00:38:43 +0000 UTC]

Well actually, they're different fluids. I'm very scientific, so there's not a lot of, um, fantasy-stuff in my stories unless I can come up with a good solid scientific explanation. Makes things a lot more convincing. So the water inside is some sort of life-support fluid, and the water outside is just, well, water. People live down below in the city, though. It's not as populated as the city above, but still has a fair number of citizens.

When I do my book, I really want to do something half-writing, half-illustrated. I communicate best through a combination of materials and medias, so it would have to incorporate both. And it will take a long long long time for me to actually feel I am capable enough as an artist and writer to put my life story down in words. x3 But thank you for your wonderful interest and support! I cannot begin to tell you how very much your wonderful comments and words mean to me. <3

sequoia-muffin-chan In reply to estella [2006-08-25 01:43:03 +0000 UTC]

Ah, you make so much SENSE. (why can't I do that?) I see...that way you can make not only fiction-readers understand, but also some of the more scientific people too, as you said. I think you're capable right now. Maybe you don't have the whole story lined up just peachy, but you know you're ready to put another something down as words and an illustration and mesh it together. I can tell; your backstory is detailed, but not TOO detailed (just the way we picky people like it) and it all just makes sense. Get your confidence up, and as I said before, I look forward to reading it. Any ideas for a title yet?

Andas for comments...I'm afraid that's all I'm good for around here. But it's fun, don't get me wrong.

Keep going!

Hmm.. title. I donno honestly what I'd call it.

I was even thinking of doing multiple stories; all of them set in my same world/universe. Of course, the Gwen/Ray story [this one] would be the main one. The others would probably be smaller, dealing with other character backstories like Gael's, Sang's, Cortanior's, etc. I could also have a few about the history of Rhynnell and its revolutions. Only one revolution has finished at the time of this picture, actually. The second one's just beginning. :0

I read the stuff about the story by the way - if it was a graphic novel or a book are anything at all, I'd definitely buy it. x3 It sounds wonderful, very intriguing. I have my own world of characters and locations but it's nowhere near as detailed as this.

Heh, I'll copy-and-paste it from another post I made a while ago. :] And it's no trouble at all. ^^ I'm always deeply heppy when someone asks more about my work. Normally it's just 'cool!', or something lame like that. xP

The story then. So, the girl has been taken into the capitol of Synnarru (the setting of the picture: it's actually the Vaothian [species of mine] afterlife) for 'safekeeping' for a while [another long story here that I can explain if you want, as well]. But the guy with the wings [Ray] doesn't want to be seperated from her (he's 'bound' to her; eternal-love type thing), and ends up committing suicide to be able to go to the afterlife and be with her. He's that in love with her; and the thought of them being apart for a substantial portion of his immortal life kills him inside to the point that he takes drastic action. Ray's character is just like that; he's too impulsive when he thinks with his heart and not head.

Now, uh, background info. Someone who commits suicide is often 'counciled' before they are allow to 'properly die' [and enter the afterlife], as many self-terminators have regrets after they die, and wish to be sent back to the lands of the living. They are allowed to return. This whole council thing is run by average citizens of Synnarru (the dead), only they appear like this [ [link] ] to the living and 'improperly dead' (they just look like normal people to the 'properly' dead and the Goddes, though). This is because, otherwise, a lot of people would end up killing themselves thinking they can bring people back to life, and it'd be a huge mess. So if they can't tell who is who, they aren't going to bother. (the Goddes are smart :])

Anyways, Ray kills himself, but manages to escape from his council after he is mistaken for the God "Ai" [another long story here that I can go into too, if you so choose]. So, he searches the city for the girl (he can 'feel' her because of their bond), but the actual God Ai has turned up shortly after Ray is let go from the council (to sort out the whole ordeal with Ray killing himself; Ray wasn't supposed to die at all costs ['nother story here xD]). Thus, the people [those two you see on the side] have been tailing him.

The exact scene in the picture is Ray finding what he searched for, and the, um, longing and pain in knowing he's in deep trouble; but being content to have found her and be with her, no matter if she's still.. unreachable in her coma-like slumber. The guards are discussing what to do now that they've found him, and the line for the one standing is, "Give him his moment.".

After the scene in the picture, a few of the high Goddes come to discuss the situation with him. They feel pretty bad for the pain they've put Ray through; and give him the option of being put into the coma-slumber with her; to awaken when she does.

He says yes.

I'm back to comment more!

Ah its incredible, all that work and detail, it looks so fantastically realish while still feeling like a perfect dream. The city (im going to call it a city) looks so explorable in all its depths and I love how half of it is submerged in water and how the plant life is flourishing all over. The stones with the designs on the left hand side are really neat, I really like them. The "tear drop"(and its inside contents) is very captivating in its uniqueness and wonderfully stylishness.

You did a truely excellent job and I could go on forever with this comment but I shal stop it here.

(Oh, I hope you do more artwork with the godesses later, they are really neat looking people)

(I hope this comment makes sense as I am really lacking in sleep, and sitting around in airport/plane/car all day doesn't help my head much...)

((it made perfect sense. I'm so glad to hear you are back safely! ^^))

Perhaps I shall do more drawings of Synnarru. It's an interesting place, and the Goddesses ARE pretty fascinating people. They're not like the rather unexciting and bland/caring God most people on Earth believe in. Naw, they actually have personalities, more like those of the Greek Gods. Christians are so boring sometimes in their religeon writings. I mean, the only person with any real personality is Satan; because he stood up for what he believed it. x]

OH FUCK ME @___@

This is absolutetly amazing! The details.... oh MAN This is some serious stuff! There's so much to look at! Its great how you got all those details in, but still didn't make it feel too cluttered, and you can really tell thing apart. I have plenty of issues of when I try to add detail and everything just ends up getting lost in everything else and its just this whole big mess x_x But you did an amazing job! The perspective is perfect. I love those stairs that lead into the water Oh man, your imagination pwns us all AH! And you know what else you did an awesome job on? Well, yea, EVERYTHING, but also the shading x3 You got a good mix of dark and light tones. Usually when people work on such a large scale its difficult to see the contrasts, so the image ends up being either too gray or too contrasty, neither of which are good. But again, you've done SUCH an amazing job _ it may have taken forever, but it looks to me like it was worth it

Just one question, how'd you shade those trees? There's so pretty and soft looking and i want to eat one 8D
Oh and another question! Heh, you might as well go ahead and tell me the story behind it, cause Im curious as to who those two lovely gentlemen (women?) are over on the right chillin under the tree x3

I shaded the trees with pencil. O.o No smudging either; I just.. shaded normally. x]

Rightright. The story then. So, the girl has been taken into the capitol of Synnarru (the setting of the picture: it's actually the Vaothian afterlife) for 'safekeeping' for a while [another long story here that I can explain if you want, as well]. They are allowed to return. This whole council thing is run by average citizens of Synnarru (the dead), only they appear like this [[link] to the living and 'improperly dead' (they're just normal people to the other dead and the Goddesses, though). This is because, otherwise, a lot of people would end up killing themselves thinking they can bring people back to life, and it'd be a huge mess. So if they can't tell who is who, they aren't going to bother. (the Goddesses are smart :])

After it, a few of the high Goddesses (Gods too; Rhynnell and Synnarru are matriarchal; so the word Goddess is used to describe both [ie. 'Greek Gods' is patriarchal, though there are females in the mix]) come to discuss the situation with him. They feel pretty bad for the pain they've put Ray through; and give him the option of being put into the coma-slumber with her; to awaken as she does.

He accepts.
