I asked the mad-skilled Ricky Ryan, a.k.a., Slencemazda, to add axe-like blades to my character Dengeki Ryouji's forearms a la Mazinger Z & Great Mazinger, and this is the killer result! Ricky Ryan did a wicked cool job with the details on the axe blades, glowing features, face, feet, hands, and tail! The background really makes everything pop too!I created the faux comic book cover for Ricky Ryan's awesome artwork by mashing-up several old Marvel comic book covers, my concept drawings of Dengeki Ryouji & Kid Glyph, the Marvel Comics Group [URW Franklin Gothic Heavy] Fonted-text by URW Studio, the Fakt Soft Pro Medium Fonted-text by Thomas Thiemich of OurType, the Shogun Warrior [Gaiking] Fonted-text by Neale Davidson of Pixel Sagas, AND something borrowed from Mad Magazine...
I designed Dengeki Ryouji as an homage to my favourite character ever, Great Mazinger, who was created by Go Nagai The Mecha Master! I, also, included some elements from the X-Men Nightcrawler [my favourite Marvel character ever, who was created by master designer Dave Cockrum] and Colossus [who was also created by The Dave Cockrum], when designing Dengeki. The Eye of Horus, samurai, and knights were also key elements in Dengeki's design.
