Description Another piece that is somewhat of a redo of a previous one. Here we have some men from the 79th New York Volunteers. They were a pre-war New York Militia unit made up predominantly of Scotsmen, and clad in Highland dress. When the war broke out in 1861, they were ordered to put away their kilts, wearing tartan trews for a time during the Battle of First Bull Run. Afterwards they were clad in standard issue U.S. Army clothing.

These men are based on a group of photos which show members of the regiment in their prewar uniforms as well as what they would wear at First Bull Run. It was really fun drawing these guys because the uniforms provided so much detail to work with.

Hope you all enjoy!
