Strange how these are called "Castles." They have ground level windows and offer no real defense from anything.

In their day they were built to protect the land owner against marauding highland tribes who at the most numbered a couple of hundred per tribe . When this period past and it became peacefull next generations of families added windows to ground level and lived in them as large houses. What you see here is now a house .
