This is the current Avengers Machine as of Super Smash Bros. Legends, the latest series in the Avengers-Verse timeline. While the line-up is in a constant state of flux due to members leaving the team only to return later on in addition to new members joining the team outright, this particular Avengers roster is arguably the most powerful version of Earth's Mightiest Heroes in the context of the Avengers-Verse due to not being too bloated like the Avengers Machine MK XII and not being crippled like the Avengers Machine MK XIII.

More or less, although that was far from my intent. The Avengers-Verse takes a heavy amount of inspiration from Jonathan Hickman's Avengers run, hence the massive cast of characters. It's also prone to changing on a whim as I explore new series and incorporate them into the Avengers-Verse.
As a fun challenge, I want you to try and identify every franchise represented in this particular Avengers roster.

Hmmmm
Marvel
DC
Yu-Gi-Oh
Dragon ball Z
Naruto
Super Smash Bros
Archie Sonic
And that’s all I can think of.

You're partially correct on that last one. The Avengers-Verse versions of Sonic and his friends aren't solely based on Archie Sonic, but rather are a composite of their Adventure-Black Knight Era and Archie incarnations.
Also, if it helps, you can look up the characters listed to figure out which franchise they hail from.

Well, in regards to the roster's structure, the core of the team consists of the founding Avengers (Captain America, Iron Man, Thor Odinson, the Hulk, Ant-Man/Giant-Man/Yellowjacket, the Wasp/Giant-Girl, Hawkeye, and Black Widow*) and the Justice League members (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Green Lantern (John Stewart), the Flash (Wally West), Martian Manhunter, Hawkgirl (Shayera Hol), and Cyborg). On that note, I specifically used the current Justice League roster from the comics (although with Wally West instead of Barry Allen as the resident Flash as a nod to the DCAU) for their representation in the Avengers Machine MK XIV. To a lesser extent, this also applies to Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes), Dr. Strange, Black Panther, and She-Hulk's inclusion in the line-up, given how they're part of the current Avengers roster from the comics.
A more significant aspect of this particular Avengers roster, however, is that it includes the heroes that Sonic's previous incarnation (who died at the end of the Everything Lives Arc of Super Smash Bros.: Avengers World after using the last of his light to power the Infinity Gauntlet and using it to resurrect the rest of the Avengers) was closest to, whether they were his best friends (Tails, Naruto, Goku, Ben Tennyson, Pit, Wolverine, X, and Zero), his rivals (Knuckles, Shadow, Mario (with Cappy continuing to tag along as has been the case since his debut in the Odyssey of Life Arc of Super Smash Bros. Rebirth), and Captain Falcon), his love interests (Sally, Amy, and Elise), or the people he believed in (Captain Universe (Tamara Devoux), Carol Danvers (who doesn't join the team until the Chrono Legacy Arc), Phoenix (Ciel), Captain America, Iron Man, Thor Odinson, Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Crono, and Serge), with Thor being the one who suggested recruiting the heroes Sonic's previous incarnation was closest to as a way of honoring him, and it's why the Avengers keep trying to convince Carol to rejoin the team prior to the Chrono Legacy Arc even though she retired from the superhero life due to what XANA did to her in Super Smash Bros.: Avengers World. With that being said, the Avengers only allow the reincarnated Sonic to join their ranks in the Chrono Legacy Arc as a result of Carol making it clear (to put it nicely) that she'll only rejoin them if they let him join the team as well, since they were still mourning the death of Sonic's previous incarnation and wanted his reincarnation to live a (relatively) peaceful life after he gave up everything for them, which they felt would have been impossible if he was an Avenger due to how dangerous their line of work can be.
Other than that, the rest of the line-up consists of longtime Avengers (in the context of the Avengers-Verse) like Hyperion, Sora, Cyclops, Deadpool, the Elements of Harmony (Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy, Rarity, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, and Pinkie Pie), and Starlight Glimmer as well as returning members who were absent from the Avengers Machine MK XIII (due to being killed by Dr. Weil in the End Times Arc of Super Smash Bros.: Avengers World) like Spider-Man (Peter Parker/Otto Octavius), Shang-Chi, Starbrand (Kevin Connor), Trixie Lulamoon, and Sunset Shimmer.
* - It is a minor plot point in the Avengers-Verse that both the initial comic Avengers and the initial MCU Avengers are considered the founding members of the team.

And now that I've updated the roster with the addition of Joker and Arsene (who share a slot on the roster), Sasuke Uchiha, Magneto, Dr. Doom, Loki, Thanos, Bowser, and Xemnas, I should explain their role on the Avengers Machine MK XIV.
In regards to Sasuke, Magneto, Dr. Doom, Loki, Thanos, Bowser, and Xemnas, they were secretly tasked by Chrono Reflect Celestia with infiltrating the new villainous organization composed of the Avengers' past enemies* that XANA, Infinite, and the Dazzlings have assembled with the help of Elpizo and Tempest Shadow known as the Legion of Darkness to learn more about them with the ultimate goal of undermining their plans from within. The reason they don't rejoin the Avengers until the Age of Xanmazsu Arc is because their mission required them to convince the Legion of Darkness that they were genuinely on their side by actively antagonizing their friends, although they are ultimately unsuccessful in their mission as of the Chrono Corruption Arc since the Legion of Darkness saw through their act, though this thankfully allows them to rejoin the Avengers since they no longer have to pretend to be evil.
As for Joker and Arsene, explaining their role requires going into more detail about Super Smash Bros. Legends' plot as a whole, since the Legion of Darkness has a benefactor who is tied to the Guardian-Verse.
* - As of Super Smash Bros. Legends, the only reformed villains who stay redeemed are Sasuke, Magneto, Dr. Doom, Loki, Thanos, Bowser, Xemnas, Juri Han, and Light Yagami due to their character development making it so that any of them returning to villainy would only serve to derail them.

...Your lack of curiosity worries me sometimes.
In all seriousness, the Legion of Darkness' benefactor is none other than The Dark, who has both regained the power he lost after the Avengers defeated him back in Super Smash Bros. Guardians and has become even stronger than he was back then as a result of consuming the hate-filled soul of Dr. Weil upon his death. I should stress, however, that while The Dark is the driving force behind the events of Super Smash Bros. Legends, the Avengers will NOT be defeating him again since he's a Guardian-Verse villain and I have no intention of mucking up your narrative again.
As to where Joker and Arsene fit into the equation, they know more about what The Dark and his Legion of Darkness have planned for creation than anyone else, so they're doing their best to prepare the Avengers for the coming storm by training them to be more proactive and less likely to be deceived by their enemies.
By the way, I've updated the Avengers Machine MK XIV once again, with the new additions to the roster joining the Avengers at the same time as Joker and Arsene, Sasuke, Magneto, Dr. Doom, Loki, Thanos, Bowser, and Xenmas.

That's not to say that the Avengers won't be directly fighting The Dark at all in Super Smash Bros. Legends. However, due to The Dark being much stronger than he was when they faced him in Super Smash Bros. Guardians, any fights the Avengers do have with him are Curb-Stomp Battles in The Dark's favor. With that said, the Avengers' direct confrontations with The Dark are few and far between, as they spend more time fighting against their reality's branch of his Legion of Darkness than The Dark himself.
As to what The Dark and his Legion of Darkness have planned, they seek to remake all of creation in their image after completely destroying every hero in existence in the ultimate war between the forces of good and evil. With that being said, while the Avengers, the Guardians of Freedom, and the heroes of the Vice-Verse are at the center of this conflict due to their personal history with The Dark and his Legion of Darkness, I want this storyline to be a massive crossover between as many as SCUs as possible.
Now, going to the Avengers Machine MK XIV's post-Age of Xanmazsu additions to the roster, I want to bring special mention to Sage Harpuia, Fighting Fefnir, and Fairy Leviathan, otherwise known as the Four Guardians (I know there's only three of them, but the Mega Man Zero series continued referring to them as the Four Guardians even after Hidden Phantom's death in Zero 1 and I shall do the same with the Avengers-Verse), as their presence is directly tied into the plot of the Age of Xanmazsu Arc itself.

EternalCyclops In reply to WOLFBLADE111 [2019-06-23 04:42:46 +0000 UTC]
Granted, while I've deliberately made it a plot point that the Avengers can't defeat The Dark again due to him being much stronger than he was in back in Super Smash Bros. Guardians so as to avoid mucking up the Guardian-Verse again, he is ultimately the main antagonist of Super Smash Bros. Legends despite being a Greater-Scope Villain this time around. Combine that with the massive crossover of SCUs that I want to do, and I think it goes without saying that Super Smash Bros. Legends won't end until The Dark's story is properly concluded in the Guardian-Verse. Fortunately for me, the status quo of the Avengers-Verse sees a massive shake-up in the wake of the Age of Xanmazsu Arc that I will be exploring with the following story arcs of Super Smash Bros. Legends, and that's due to the nature of the Age of Xanmazsu Arc itself.
See, the Age of Xanmazsu Arc is a time-travel story similar to Avengers: Endgame, and sees the Avengers Machine MK XIV (minus Crono, Serge, and Sonic, who were dusted by XANA/Xanmazsu and the resurrected Dr. Weil's respective Infinity Stones along with the rest of the Avengers' allies, as well as Carol Danvers, who stays in the present due to still being a child after the Life of Carol Danvers Arc and being the only one other than Rarity who can power the Warp Gate Tunnel the Avengers are using in this arc) travel through time in order to sabotage XANA/Xanmazsu and Dr. Weil in the past so they'll be weakened enough in the present for the Avengers to steal the Infinity Stones from them and bring back their deceased allies before ultimately saving the Chrono Reflect universe and the Worlds of Light & Darkness from their clutches. This naturally sees several moments in the history of the Avengers-Verse being revisited by the time-travelling Avengers in their quest to save both their worlds from their greatest enemies, with said moments consisting of;
1. The events of Let The Games Begin (Maximum Sonic's adaptation of Sonic 1), specifically when Universe 12 Sally was initially possessed by XANA (at the time still trapped within Tamara Devoux's body), with the Avengers teaming up with Universe 12 Sonic to fight XANA and the possessed Universe 12 Sally long enough for the Canterlot Lyoko Warriors (Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy, Rarity, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Trixie, Sunset Shimmer, and Starlight Glimmer, the latter of whom doesn't go to Lyoko herself and instead acts as the navigator for her friends) to deactivate the Tower being used to control Universe 12 Sally with the help of NICOLE (who is essentially Universe 12's equivalent of Aelita and Fluttershy). Unfortunately, as the Canterlot Lyoko Warriors and NICOLE discover after deactivating the Tower, XANA was prepared for the potential possibility of someone finding out about Universe 12 Sally's possession and attempting to free her, as the homicidal AI used not one, but FIVE Towers to possess Universe 12 Sally, with all five being incredibly well hidden in each of Lyoko's sectors. Having succeeded in deactivating the Tower located in the Ice Sector but unable to stay in that point of Universe 12's timeline to look for the remaining Towers due to their mission, the Avengers return to their era to continue their mission.
2. The events of Project Shadow (Maximum Sonic's adaptation of Sonic Adventure 2), where XANA began antagonizing Universe 12 Shadow as part of her plan to turn him against Tamara Devoux so he'd refuse to listen to her when she'd try to deter him from joining the Heroes of Darkness, with the Avengers teaming up with the Freedom Fighters (Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy Rose, Sally Acorn, Antoine D'Coolette, Bunnie Rabbot, and Rotor Walrus) and the past version of Tamara Devoux as well as Team Dark (Shadow, Rouge, and Dr. Eggman), assisting the Freedom Fighters in their latest battle with Dr. Eggman and aiding Shadow and Rouge in fending off XANA's clones of Earth's Mightiest Heroes while the Canterlot Lyoko Warriors and NICOLE deactivate the Towers located in the Forest, Desert, and Mountain Sectors, with the deactivation of the Mountain Tower coinciding with the Avengers teaming up with both the Freedom Fighters AND Team Dark in stopping the Space Colony ARK from crashing into the Earth, where they fend off the possessed Universe 12 Sally, XANA, and her army of monsters and clone Avengers while the Universe 12 versions of Sonic and Shadow prevent the ARK from crashing into the Earth. Unfortunately, while the Canterlot Lyoko Warriors and NICOLE successfully deactivate the Towers located in the Forest, Desert, and Mountain Sectors, one Tower still remains unaccounted for, leaving the Avengers with little choice but to return to their era to continue their mission.
3. The events of Invasion of the Black Arms (Maximum Sonic's adaptation of Shadow the Hedgehog), specifically when XANA intercepted Universe 12 Shadow while he was pursuing Black Doom in the finale after antagonizing the Ultimate Life Form for the entire story and revealed to him that she was responsible for the clone Avengers that antagonized him and Rouge during Project Shadow as the conclusion of her plan to turn him against Tamara Devoux, with the Avengers teaming up with the Universe 12 versions of Shadow, Sonic, and Dr. Eggman (the latter two having been freed from the Black Arms' paralysis gas by Dr. Strange) against XANA and Black Doom after exposing XANA's deception to Universe 12 Shadow while Sally Acorn and Starlight Glimmer team up with the rest of the Freedom Fighters (Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Cream, Antoine, Bunnie, and Rotor), Team Dark (Rouge and E-123 Omega), and the Chaotix (Espio, Charmy, Vector, Tikal, and Chaos) to fight the corrupted Universe 12 Sally long enough for the Canterlot Lyoko Warriors and NICOLE to successfully deactivate the Sector 5 Tower and free her from XANA's control, after which Sally and the Canterlot Lyoko Warriors bring the rest of the Freedom Fighters (Universe 12 Sally included), Team Dark, and the Chaotix to the Black Comet in order to help the rest of the Avengers and the Universe 12 versions of Shadow, Sonic, and Dr. Eggman in their fight against XANA and Black Doom, ultimately culminating in Shadow and Sally teaming up with Universe 12 Sonic and their past selves in their Super forms to defeat XANA and Black Doom (in his Devil Doom form) before returning to their era with the rest of the Avengers to continue their mission.

(I've updated the Avengers Machine MK XIV roster with the Dawn of Darkness additions to the team. Now on with the show.)
4. Vilgax's initial arrival on Earth (as depicted in Darkstar Rising/Vilgax Closes In, the opening episodes of Ben 10 Reboot: Redemption Crossover's Invasion Arc), which also happens to be the same day that XANA (still trapped within Tamara Devoux's body) had possessed Universe 10's versions of Gwen Tennyson and Sally Acorn. Compared to the Maximum Sonic revisits, the Avengers waste no time screwing over XANA, as they quickly exorcise XANA's specters from Gwen and Sally using a microchip built by Iron Man and mystically enhanced by Dr. Strange. Additionally, the Avengers take the time to derail the Hive's plans to corrupt Universe 10 Julie Yamamoto by forcing their clone of Spider-Man (officially known as Nanite Spider-Man) to reveal his presence (he hid himself in plain sight on Julie's back by posing as a backpack) by subjecting him to an incredibly painful whistle used by Hive Queens to punish their subordinates and prevent Vilgax and his allies from escaping with Universe 10 Ben by disrupting Universe 10 Elena Validus' concentration, which causes the Nanochip platform she was using for their escape from Universe 10 Ben's allies to dissipate, as well as causing Vilgax's ship (officially known as the Galaxy Destroyer) to self-destruct. This ultimately leads to the Avengers Machine MK XIV and the original Avengers Machine (Ben Tennyson, Gwen Tennyson, Julie Yamamoto, Kevin Levin, Charmcaster, Grandpa Max, Bivalvan, Galapagus, Pandor, Andreas, Ra'ad, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor Odinson, Black Widow, Spider-Woman, Wolverine, Spider-Man, Scarlet Witch, the Wasp, the Incredible Hulk, Ant-Man (Hank Pym), Hawkeye, the Falcon, Ms. Marvel (Carol Danvers), Quicksilver, Cyclops, Storm, Rogue, Gambit, Shadowcat, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Professor X, Beast, Jubilee, Psylocke, Iceman, Angel, She Hulk (Jennifer Walters), Red Hulk, Red She-Hulk, A-Bomb, Mr. Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Human Torch (Johnny Storm), the Thing, Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), the Flash (Barry Allen), Aquaman, Hawkgirl, Cyborg, Robin (Dick Grayson), Beast Boy, Starfire, Raven, Batgirl (Barbara Gordon), Katana, Alfred, Sonic the Hedgehog, Miles "Tails" Prower, Knuckles the Echidna, Amy Rose, Sticks the Badger, Sally Acorn, and Shadow the Hedgehog) teaming up against XANA, the Nanite Spider-Man, and Vilgax's forces (consisting of himself, Psyphon, Sixsix, Sevenseven, Eighteight, Twotwo, Zs'Skayr, the Yeenadolshi, the Mummy Alien, Dr. Viktor, Kraab, Liam, Ssserpent, Aggregor, Khyber, Malware, Dr. Psychobos, Ragnarok, Rojo, Darkstar, Dr. Animo, Clancy, Hex, Elena Validus, the Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Kraven the Hunter, Electro, Vulture, Rhino, Scorpion, Dr. Eggman, Scratch, Grounder, Coconuts, Orbot, Cubot, Metal Sonic, Mecha Sonic, Silver Sonic, Slade "Deathstroke" Wilson, Cinderblock, Plasmus, Overload, Brother Blood, Jinx, Gizmo, Mammoth, Billy Numerous, See-More, Private HIVE, and Kyd Wykkyd) in an epic battle that sees Universe 10 Julie obtain Ship earlier than she did originally and rebel against the Hive's influence after the present day version of Ben successfully gets through to her and Universe 10 Kai Green (a Forever Knight at this point in time) coming to the aid of the Avengers Machine MK XIV and the original Avengers Machine after the present day version of Captain America manages to convince her to help Universe 10 Ben and his allies against Vilgax because it's the right thing to do instead of seeking revenge. With XANA and the Hive's plans being successfully derailed and the threat posed by Vilgax being lessened due to the loss of his ship, the Avengers return to their era to continue their mission, but not before the present day version of Iron Man privately tells Grandpa Max (who died during Vilgax's invasion) everything that Ben has been through over the course of the Avengers-Verse and records a hidden message from Grandpa Max to Ben on a Holo-Viewer that Tony records his last will and testament on prior to his death at the end of the Age of Xanmazsu Arc. Unbeknownst to the Avengers, however, the Nanite Spider-Man follows them back to the present undetected, having shifted into a puddle of Nanochips after being blown to smithereens by Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

No offense taken. My run downs can be admittedly be a bit long. The funny thing, however, is that I HAVE been breaking down my run down of the Age of Xanmazsu Arc by explaining each of the Avengers' revisits to past storylines of the Avengers-Verse (hence the numbers). It just so happens that I have a lot to discuss regarding the events that occur in those revisits, and that's without going into the exact specifics.
Having said that, I will continue discussing the 3 remaining revisited storylines if you're interested, but I should probably just get to the point and explain HOW the Age of Xanmazsu Arc shakes up the status quo of the Avengers-Verse.
To put it simply, while it wasn't exactly their intention to do so, the Avengers' actions in the Age of Xanmazsu Arc led to the timeline branching at seven specific points;
1. Let The Games Begin (Maximum Sonic)
2. Project Shadow (Maximum Sonic)
3. Invasion of the Black Arms (Maximum Sonic)
4. Darkstar Rising/Vilgax Closes In (Ben 10 Reboot: Redemption Crossover)
5. Mega Man Zero 3 (Maximum Mega Man)
6. Messiah CompleX (Super Smash Bros. Crossover)
7. Infinity Quest (Super Smash Bros. Rebirth)
Aside from the return of the Four Guardians (Harpuia, Fefnir, and Leviathan), the heroes involved in each of the first six revisited storylines end up journeying forward in time to the Infinity Quest era to aid the Avengers Machine MK XIV in their battle for the Infinity Stones against the Avengers Machine MK XII (Avengers No. 1-275 with the exception of Sonic, who turns against his era's Avengers to help the present day Avengers, and is in fact responsible for the heroes of the revisited storylines managing to get to the Infinity Quest era) alongside the heroes of that era.
After the Avengers Machine MK XIV returns to the present day, the past versions of the heroes of Universe 12, Universe 10, Universe 7, and the World of Trophies, who have now diverged from their primary counterparts featured in Super Smash Bros. Legend due to the split in the timeline, decide to continue working together and travel even further in time to the Chrono Reflect universe in the present, where they literally create an Avengers World to serve as their new home. Unfortunately, due to the machinations of The Dark, the villains involved in the 7 revisited storylines are brought to the present day as well, where they end up joining the Legion of Darkness and serve as the main antagonists of Super Smash Bros. Reflect.
I apologize if this is a little wordy, but THAT is the major change in status quo for the Avengers-Verse in the wake of the Age of Xanmazsu Arc. From that point onward, the ongoing saga of the Avengers-Verse is told across two series;
1. Super Smash Bros. Legends, which focuses on the primary Avengers and their allies in their ongoing conflict against The Dark and his the Legion of Darkness.
2. Super Smash Bros. Reflect, which focuses on the Chrono Avengers (the time-displaced heroes featured in the Age of Xanmazsu Arc) as they continue to aid the primary Avengers and their allies in their ongoing conflict against The Dark and his Legion of Darkness.

I'll give you a link to the current version of the Avengers-Verse Index since, like their predecessors, Super Smash Bros. Legends and Super Smash Bros. Reflect's crossovers with the Guardian-Verse and the Vice-Verse are shared with Super Smash Bros. Legends.

The reason I'm not expanding the Avengers Machine MK XIV any further is because I'm working with two massive ensemble casts with Super Smash Bros. Legends and Super Smash Bros. Reflect.
Also, here are the Avengers who have died and subsequently been reborn as blank slates (for the most part) over the course of Super Smash Bros. Legends (in chronological order and by placement on the Machine in the case of multiple deaths occurring at the same time);
Sonic the Hedgehog, Iron Man (Tony Stark), Eos (Celestia/Daybreaker), Selene (Luna/Nightmare Moon), Maudalina "Maud" Daisy Pie, Hyperion (Marcus Milton), Fluttershy Sandora, Loki Laufeyson, Thunderstrike (Jane Foster), Beta Ray Bill, Ultimate Thor, Twilight Sparkle, Applejack Ambrosia, Sunset Shimmer, Mega Man X, Phoenix (Ciel), Sasuke Uchiha, Thor Odinson, Batman (Bruce Wayne), Zero, Naruto Uzumaki, Rainbow Dash Rivera, and Pinkamena "Pinkie" Diane Pie.

Whenever any of the Avengers die in the Avengers-Verse post-Avengers World, they are reborn as blank slates (for the most part). The only exception to this rule is Rarity, as her status as the Singularity renders her incapable of reincarnation, meaning if she dies and decides her work is done, then that's it for her.

You're going to hate me for this, but I've updated the Avengers Machine MK XIV yet again with the addition of Akuma, Master Xehanort, and Ansem, Seeker of Darkness, who join the team along with the Maker, Malekith the Accursed, Hela, Gorr the God Butcher, and Maximus the Mad in the New Beginnings Arc. Having said that, though, the Maker, Malekith, Hela, Gorr, Maximus, Akuma, Master Xehanort, and Ansem SOD aren't exactly altruistic in their decision to join the Avengers in the wake of the battle with Perpetua in the Justice Vs. Doom Arc.
See, The Dark was supposed to free Perpetua after regaining his lost power in exchange for the power to reshape creation in his image, but he left her to rot when he became much stronger than he anticipated upon consuming Dr. Weil's hateful soul and formed the Legion of Darkness to reshape creation in his image on his own terms. In retaliation for this betrayal, Perpetua stripped The Dark of his newfound power when she was eventually freed by the machinations of the renegade Twilight Sparkle (who rechristens herself as Midnight Sparkle), Dr. Weil's past selves, and the Batman Who Laughs, fully restoring Dr. Weil to full strength in addition to freeing him from his contract with The Dark and forcing The Dark to abandon the Legion of Darkness (which is reborn as the Legion of Doom) and go into seclusion to regain his lost power once more.
Following the initial conflict with Perpetua, Lex Luthor, the Legion's new leader in the wake of Twilight's redemption, decides to finish what Midnight Sparkle began and bring about Doom in his time, albeit on his own terms, by convincing everyone in creation to give into their base instincts (Doom) instead of rising above them (Justice), with the Maker knowing that Luthor is ultimately giving Perpetua exactly what she wants despite his supposed desire to accomplish her goals on his own terms, something the Maker wants no part in despite wanting the same thing as Luthor since he believes that following Luthor's path will only end in failure.
Remembering how he was more successful while working with the Avengers instead of working against them and that the reformed villains in the Avengers are still aligned with Doom despite being heroes, the Maker comes to the conclusion that there is ultimately no difference between Justice and Doom and decides that the best way to bring about Doom in his time is by convincing everyone in creation that they can still be heroes without denying their true natures. To accomplish his new goal, the Maker convinces Malekith, Hela, Gorr, Maximus, and Akuma to abandon the Legion of Doom and rejoin the Avengers in order to bring about Doom in their time by fighting for Justice alongside Earth's Mightiest Heroes, with Master Xehanort and Ansem SOD (who also defected from the Legion of Doom) being forced to fall in line with the Maker and his allies after they effortlessly destroy Organization XIII to remove them as a threat to their plans.
After successfully rejoining the Avengers by feigning remorse for their actions as members of the Legion of Darkness/Doom, the Maker and his allies proceed to secretly assemble a new incarnation of the Cabal by rallying the Doom-aligned Avengers to their cause by convincing them that there's no shame in embracing their true natures as villains since they can still fight for Justice despite their villainous natures because there is ultimately no difference between Justice and Doom.

Indeed. In the wake of the Dark going into seclusion thanks to Perpetua stripping him of his power, the Avengers find themselves up against four antagonistic factions; the Legion of Doom (led by Lex Luthor and the Joker), the Cabal (led by the Maker and Midnight Sparkle), the combined forces of XANA and Dr. Weil (the events of the Life of Rarity Arc/Perpetua's Wrath Arc saw XANA possess Dr. Weil out of desperation due to Rarity using the Infinity Stones to successfully seal Perpetua away in the Source Wall once more, but subsequently failing to dust XANA and Dr. Weil in an effort to kill them once more), and Elpizo and Tempest Shadow, with the Batman Who Laughs acting as a wild card who manipulates the warring factions for nothing more than his sick personal amusement.
Of course, the overall threat posed by the Legion of Doom, the Cabal, XANA and Dr. Weil, Elpizo and Tempest Shadow, and the Batman Who Laughs is merely setting the stage for Perpetua, who wasn't even fully awakened when the Avengers and the Chrono Avengers fought her initially. While the Cabal ends up doing more harm than good due to their actions contributing to Perpetua's awakening and causing the Avengers to become divided at a time when they need to be united the most, they are genuinely on the Avengers' side since, while they wish to bring about Doom in their time by convincing everyone that they can still be heroes without denying their true nature, they're only trying to ensure the survival of creation by eliminating moral restraints from every hero in creation so that they can stand an actual chance against Perpetua at her full strength.

I should clarify; Perpetua didn't so much strip The Dark of his power so much as she stripped him of the boost in power he received after consuming Dr. Weil's soul. It just so happens that said power boost was the only thing preventing the Avengers and the Guardians of Freedom from defeating The Dark in a fight, so he's gone into seclusion to regain that power through intense training.

BTW, I've updated the Avengers Machine MK XIV yet again with the addition of the Joker and Harley Quinn. Luckily for you, they join Earth's Mightiest Heroes during the Shattered Heroes Arc, which is set after the Multiversal Influx Saga in regards to the Avengers-Verse timeline.

Well, the reason the Joker joins the Avengers can be summed up with four words; The Batman Who Laughs. As for Harley Quinn, well...it's Harley Quinn. As much as I've grown a distaste for an anti-hero Harley Quinn due to DC completely missing the point of her character in an attempt to make her their version of Deadpool, she would follow the Joker to the ends of the earth.
Besides, it's more of an Enemy Mine situation. The Avengers don't trust the Joker, but they know he's absolutely right in saying that The Batman Who Laughs is too dangerous a threat to ignore, and he is equally too dangerous to be left to his own devices. Plus, given that Pinkie and Maud have been broken by the Batman Who Laughs and Rarity is presumed dead after the third battle with Perpetua, the Avengers can't really afford to turn the Joker and Harley Quinn away.

With this particular expansion, the Avengers bear a greater resemblance to the Chrono Avengers, who returned to their origin points in the Avengers-Verse and wiped all memories of the time they spent working together as a team in the far future to restore the present day Avengers (who end up gaining said memories) to their peak strength during the Endgame Arc. The resemblance to the Chrono Avengers is hammered home by the Avengers choosing to officially make Sonic their leader just like how the Chrono Avengers made the Infinity Quest era version of Sonic their leader.
Additionally, following the events of the Search For Rarity Arc and the Evil Within Arc, the Avengers are no longer in the state of flux they've been in since the start of Super Smash Bros. Legends as the team is fully assembled and unified at that point.

Hell, the only lingering issue for this particular Avengers roster after the Evil Within Arc is Rarity's amnesia (unlike Celestia, Luna, Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, and Sunset Shimmer, Rarity has no memories of either of her past incarnations due to her mind being consumed by the Anti-Life Virus that The Batman Who Laughs infected her with), but that's something that can be fixed with time.
Also, as a fun little challenge, I want to see if you can identify all the franchises represented in the Avengers Machine MK XIV. I'll list said franchises next to each character once I sort it out myself, but I want to see if you can figure it out before that.
