Description Understanding eludes us
What we believed has been crushed by reality
The love of the nurturer isn't always there
As their sight is blinded by their own wants and desires
They forget to love and be fair
They seem to disappear when you need them there
Reputation is strong in their worries
Not the gift that God has granted them
They've turned their backs
Broke down in their beliefs
Lost their way
In the process pushing their flesh and blood away
Too stuck in their ways to see that their child is grown
Mom (Dad), its time to let go of trying to control our lives
Let us live our own life
For you only hurt now
Our hearts ache for understanding
Yet you crush any hope when you become negative
We aren't out to get you
Even when you emotionally damage us
We still love you and wish you'd see what's in front of you
It's time to take off the blinders and look around
We aren't kids anymore
We can make our own decisions
Let us go
We'll always return to visit
We'll always be a part of your life
But it's time for us to take the next step forward on our own
It's time to let go

A mature and impassioned plea.

I can relate though my situation is not quite the same. Often when I am caught in emotions like that my only escape is to write.

Yes writing is the release that helps heal the soul. For awhile I had writer's block and not being able to express myself was killing me inside. This let everything that bothered me out. I guess I had to have a certain situation to really let it out. It was actually a fight with my mom that made things clear. And that's what brought created this poem. True emotion.

I agree, and it’s much the same with me. I bottle things up and keep them to myself and the only out for that is expressing that raw emotion in poetry. So many thoughts come in into my mind and writing them helps me sort it all out. That’s probably why more of my poetry is written out of anger or anguish. Those emotions hit so strongly and it’s hard to cope sometimes. I find that I express myself much better in writing than in speech.

I believe I will take a gander at your gallery
