nononono, you got it wrong, see in the original pokemon silver and his pokemon were your rival and kinda evil, but in the lost silver game you used nightmare on his feraligator and killed it, the fact that feralligator turned into a totodile before it died was supposed to imply of its last feelings before death.
Because gold is undead (?) in "lost silver"
Thats the short version of what happend anyways... but there is a bigger mean to all of it, just trying to make you not read so much.
