Description
Okay so spoiler art designs for my fanfic and I guess for the story too? though I strongly doubt anyone who has read it is on here, but I really wanted to start drawing older Zoroark-Emmet.
--------------
The Story
archiveofourown.org/works/3910…
One of the notorious Subway Bosses was indeed a Zoroark in disguise and it so happened to be Emmet
Also to add -When making a wish to an other worldly being, to bring back your twin brother, make sure to emphasize as a human
-----------------
So I’ll just clarify here, that Emmet died as a kid and got ‘reborn’ as a Zorua, with no memories, but vague impressions of his former life, but maybe over time he’ll remember who he is?.
Originally the story idea was just to explore and have one-shot snippets of this Zoroak-Emmet Au. With how Emmet and Ingo lives are like with this change, some angst and some fun moments, but instead I ended up turning into an almost murder mystery with the end goal with Emmet trying to find a way to be human again, wither or not I will get to the end of this story is another matter, but so much angst is on the way >.<
Originally Emmet was suppose to be just a ‘Normal’ Zorua/Zoroark with silver eyes(His human eyes), but no matter what I did the story wouldn’t let that happen, I just kept seeing Emmet fur turn silver and pink Made me regret not having him be a Hisuian Zorua from the start, but that didn’t make sense for him to be one in ‘Modern’ times. Would have made things difficult. But also tie into things later in the story, but going back to the planning stage, I did try and stick with him being a ‘modern’ Zoroark, but no matter what I did, he didn’t look ‘right’ in my eyes, so I went screw it, lets mix some Hisuian Zoroark into his design and was finally happy with his ‘look’.
He’s a mix of past and present and is a Dark/Ghost type Zoroark which will make sense in the story once I get their, for now he’s considered a rare ‘Morph’, it’s believe these morphs are Zorua/Zoroark’s that still carry the genes of the Hisuian variant and that every now and then they will show themselves, though theirs still a lot people don’t know about this morph.
So moving onto the pic’s above.
(I’ll just point out here that Emmet is usually seen in his Human illusion, as he prefers that over his Pokemon form, but this is just to show what’s he looks like under the illusion)
Zorua-Emmet - So before Emmet evolves his red markings suddenly turn pink, at the time no one could explain why this was and wither or not this was a sign of poor health. After a couple of test (Much to Emmet’s discomfort) they couldn’t find anything wrong and concluded that it just might be another sign of his status as a ‘Reborn’ or at least that’s what his Case worker thinks.
(The fact that it is possible in Pokemon canon for people to be either turned into a Pokemon or to be reborn as a pokemon (Mostly Ghost types) or in the anime case of Mallow’s Shaymin, is the reincarnation of her mother, so while it is ‘Rare’ it is not unheard of. So I've come up with the idea that when someone if proven to be a Human-turned Pokemon or a Reborn in Emmet’s case, they have a Case Worker to help them. Though how they help these people is still very limited due to the rarity of the ‘condition’ )
Young Zoroark-Emmet - Emmet’s fur changing colour was an early sign he was close to evolving, which was not a happy occasion for Emmet when he did. As he evolved way to early for his species, it effected him quiet badly both physically and mentally, as their had been some fear’s that he would forget his humanity if he evolved, similar to how a Yamask supposedly forgets that they were once human when they evolve into Cofagrigus. Emmet had feared the same thing would happen, but as he was so far away from that Lv it wasn’t a concern that he would evolve anytime soon, but life had other plans and Emmet evolved just before he and Ingo were going to go on their Pokemon journey, delaying it a little as Emmet had to quickly adjust to his new form. While he was upset about the sudden change, soon he was happy that he could at least hug his brother properly and not have to use a illusion to do so, also with a bit of adjustment he could wear human attire! So his first winnings from Pokemon Battles was used on buying himself clothes from thrift shops, he and Elesa had fun clothes shopping together, they still do as adults.
Teen Zoroark-Emmet - His body growing at a similar rate as his brother, it’s believe now, that the reason Emmet evolved early is due to the mysterious ‘twin link’ he seems to have with Ingo, and that his body is just trying to keep pace with his brother. Emmet is still very self conscious about his ‘Zoroark’ form and has trimmed a lot of his fur and mane down so that he can continue to wear human attire and hates it when he has to remove his attire for health check ups, as his Case Worker insist that he get them done monthly to track his development as they are concerned about his ‘health’, also so people can study his ‘Pokemon’ Form. Emmet is getting verrry tired of feeling like he is being treated less than a living being.
Subway Boss Zoroark-Emmet - Ingo and Emmet jumped through a lot of hoops and not everything legal to get Emmet a Pokemon trainer licence when they were young, much to Emmet Case Worker disagreement, as he’s a ‘Pokemon’ now you can’t be a Pokemon Trainer, but that didn’t stop them from going behind everyone's back and doing it anyway. So many years later after their Journey, Pokemon Tournaments and getting jobs as Depot Agents the two finally ended up becoming Gear Station Subway Bosses, Emmet is very confident and happy with his job and with the income they get as Bosses, helps with their research on how they could turn him into a human, and they have finally found a way they could do it, but when Ingo disappears all that is derailed and Emmet is left with the difficult choice, dose he give up his one chance to become human to get Ingo back?
Wild Emmet - This is two different AU ideas (Also an excuse to draw Emmet in full Zoroark form)
Subway Phantom - World where Ingo and Emmet didn’t reunite nearly a year after Emmet’s death. Emmet was left wandering the wilds until he found train tracks and followed them to a train station. He found the trains and station to be very familiar and comforting even though he didn’t know why, and decided to hide around said station until he figured out how to use his illusion to make himself look human. When he finally dose he unknowing/subconscious level took on the image of his previous human self.
Now with a better skill with Illusions, Emmet was able to sneak on trains and travel Unova in search of a place that is ‘Home’ to him, but some people recognized Emmet illusion as the boy who died near the train tracks as that where Emmet body had been found.
So rumours spread about the ghost boy who travelled the trains, and people started investigating which resulted in Emmet having a nasty run-in with some ‘Ghost Hunters’. So now he takes on a couple of disguises to avoid being easily followed as the Ghost Hunters revealed he was a Pokemon and now he is being tracked down as a ‘Rogue’ Zorua/Zoroark as they are considered dangerous.
So years later Ingo in his late teens, he never truly got over the loss of his twin and never became a professional Pokemon trainer, though he is still a very skilled trainer. He just couldn’t bring himself to finish the gym league circuit. (His team consist Klang, Lampent, Garbodor and Fraxure at this point in time)
But Ingo did accepted his Uncle offer, on training him to potentially become the next Dragon Gym Leader, he’s not sure he wants to, but he really doesn’t know what he wants to do with himself at the moment, also in the meanwhile he gets himself a job as a Depot Agent.
Which lead to some interesting discovery's as some of his co-workers pointed out he looked similar to the ‘Subway Phantom’ a ghost or Zoroark in disguise, his co-workers are still debating that fact. But also wither or not the Subway Phantom is a threat like the Z-Hunters (Zoroark Hunters) have been claiming. So far, It seems this Subway Phantom is very particular about about safety and things staying on time and even getting involved when unruly passengers have caused issues, its even saved a few lives.
They also told him, that while it is usually seen as a mysterious ‘Man in White’ it dose take on other people identities, but you can always tell its the Phantom because it always has silver eyes, a wide smile and an interesting way it talks.
Honestly how this Pokemon keeps evading capture is a mystery and why people still believe it maybe just a ghost.
So Ingo isn’t sure how to feel about hearing a Ghost Zoroark is running about with his twin brother face, but he dose know he has to investigate and I find this mysterious Pokemon for himself. Thus begins a bit of a cat and mouse game as Ingo tries to find the Subway Phantom, while the Pokemon wants to help people, it flees quickly once discovered and Ingo wouldn’t be surprised if it had been using the subway tunnels as escape routes.
In pursuit of the Subway Phantom, it brings back the bad memories of how Ingo lost his twin and the mystery around it, will he finally get the closure he needs and is he prepared to face a ghost, either real or an imposter?
Haunting You - Emmet was sent into the past the same as Ingo and like him, lost most of his memories as well. So with only his name and goal to find the man in black that’s always frowning, he sets out into Hisui to search while dealing with trying to survive in such harsh environment that’s not Zoroark friendly. Emmet during his travels ponders why he is here and why is he looking for this human? maybe he is seeking vengeance, like his fellow Zoroark have suggested?
Other notes- Emmet may look scary, but actually it’s just a façade to keep humans back, he fines they are easily intimidated by his grinning face.
