The gun ship had spotted them. Within seconds they heard its mini guns spin up. The tracer rounds began pouring down everywhere around them.
Like a cloud burst of hail. Only this hail set the trees and grass around them ablaze.

"Oh crap, crap, crap!" Nate yelled.

"Bloody damn wankers!" Lara replied.

"Why is it always a freakin' gunship?! I ask ya! Why?!" Nate had drawn his Beretta and fired a few shots up at the whirling hell above.

Lara also fired a few bursts from her MP5. The gunship moved up and to the left so to avoid their ground fire and to get a clear shot.
As it's machine guns seized, it fired 2 missiles. They landed just 50 yards ahead. Blown debris started trickling on them.
 
"We can't stay here! This way!" Lara shouted grabbing Nate by the shoulder and tugging him along. The fire began to spread all about
them. Nate, gripping the solid gold statuette firmly in his right hand, he bolted alongside Lara as they started up the hill.
The trees were thick. That kept the chopper from drawing a direct line of sight but also caused the fire to spread faster.

"These bastards never fight fair!" Nate complained loudly, hopping left and right to avoid the bullets and flames.

"Of course not! We'd kick their asses if they did." Lara replied. Nate looked over at her.

"You mean we should feel flattered that they break out everything 'cept the nukes just for us?!"

"Of course!"

They reached the top of the hill. But when they looked over, they realized too late that they were at the edge of a tall cliff. A raging river
roared far below.

"Oh shit!!!" They both exclaimed in unison.

"If it's not choppers, it's cliffs! How can the same shit keep happening to the same guy year after year?!"

"You must be blessed with shitty luck!"

"Like your track record is spotless! Well, who wants to go first?!

They looked down at the water. One wrong move at the last minute and they'd break their necks. But the gunship was drawing closer.
Then suddenly, it came into full view over the tree tops. They were right on its beam now. Instead of opening fire, it remained still
just hovering in the air.

"Hell crap?!" I know what it means when a chopper gives me that look!" Holstering his weapon, Nate then took the statuette and stuffed it
down the front of his shirt.

"So when are you due?" Lara said almost giggling. She checked her gun's magazine. Noticing it to be empty she threw it to the side.

"If we survive this, I'm going to make you eat that remark." He retorted.

"Race you to the bottom...then to shore." Lara said readying herself for the plunge.

"Your on Croft!"

They jumped. While plummeting to their fate below, the whishing sound of 2 more launched warheads was heard. They hit in the exact spot the two had just stood.

There are no words to tell you how much I love this... I've just sent you a request to have this featured in my Lara/Nate DA group because it totally deserves to be showcased there. I hope you will accept, and that you'll do more artwork featuring these two in the future!
