Rain is one of the major characters in Mortal Kombat Rebirth and the recurring hero of the series.

His real name is Zeffeero and he is a Edenian prince and ninja who has a divine lineage while being the only son of the creator god Argus who is also being worshiped as the people's protector for the realm of Edenia. During his past life, Zeffeero was taught through wisdom and preservation to balance his own powers, gifts, and talents he inherited from Argus while performing his own martial art technique which is zi ran men and promised never to use those for power or greed but instead use them for protection and understanding to different beings other realms. Being an Edenian with divine lineage, he is gifted with the ability to wield immense power while controlling water and lighting that are based on his weather based magic, create powerful storms, turning himself into water in a swift manner akin to teleportation, and the fact that his eyes will turn white whenever he goes in berserk mode. He even uses his signature weapon which is a katar which can also attack ducking opponents and using it again into the ground while changing his hand into water to summon tidal waves that can cause the opponents to stumble backwards. Ever since the realm of Edenia has now been invaded and threatened by an evil empire from Outworld, he decided he must do everything he can to protect the throne of a royal family from being taken over and to seek truth for those responsible for bringing all the chaos and fear into this peaceful world.

Rain is a elegant, skillful, and devoted Edenian male who appears to be physically in his 30s with indian based facial features and could possibly bring back hope and peace for Edenian even when times can tough or difficult for everyone including himself. However, the only flaws he has are having a big ego due to his godhood and his fear of corruption from using his powers for greed.

Whenever Rain is fighting against any enemy he encounters, he finishes his opponent by shooting out water to form a big bubble while forcefully letting them swallow the water bubble which also causes their bodies to physically expand or grow fatter and letting them explode to death which leaves nothing but blood.

The clothing he wears is a traditional ninja attire in shades of black with a purple mouth mask, a purple japanese style tabard vest with black outlines around it, purple arm guards, purple shin guards, a few black upper cuff bands on both sides of his arms, and a dark grey kidney belt with silver decorations and the Edenian crest on the center symbolizing his people.
