Oh another amazing piece!
You made the picture so antique and almost surreal.
But I can't quite tell what the pattern on her kimono is. They look kinda like biohazard signs but that doesn't make sense to me...

Haha! Not a problem at all. I always feel silly when I post a random comment that doesn't really say anything. It's like it's just there...
What program do you use to edit the pictures like that and how long on average does it take? I feel like it would take forever.
I don't have any cool programs to work with. Just thet free program Paint that comes on most computers.

Likewise.
Retouching a photo (adjusting overall colour, exposure, etc / softening or removing shadows / blemishes on faces, putting in hilights / lolights, etc takes half to one hour, sometimes longer if itβs a crappy photoβ¦ or the model ainβt wearing foundation, as mentioned elsewhere!
A complex multilayer edit can take me anything from 2 β 40+ hrs, 4 β 10 hrs being more typical. This partic deviation took about 5 β 6 hrs I think.
I use Photoshop CS1 (the original version of CS).
If you canβt afford CS (it is fucking expensive)β¦ well obviously I certainly wouldnβt recommend getting a computer savvy friend to do you a pirated version with a crack program that would cost you nothing & work just as well, that would be stealing & stealing from multi-million $$$ corporations is a terrible wicked thang *ahem*. Otherwise you could look into a (legal) freeware program called GIMP, which is free software. At least it used to be, true freeware seems to be getting rarer over the last 2 or 3 years. It has most of the functionality of PS, including the all important multi-layer capability. Iβve only used it once very briefly but it seemed OK. Some ppl prefer it to PS (and not only βcos itβs free!). You could try searching for it on downloads.com [link] As I recall, like much freeware itβs not liscensed to Microsoft, so if you have a Windows OS it will issue dire warnings. These can safely be ignored, Iβve never heard of anyone having problems with GIMP. Unless you are using Vista which is like a fucking overbearing nanny that will slap your wrist & tell you not to be naughty if you even dare to try & load any freeware ever. Gawd how I hate Microsoft. If your on XP or Windows 7 you should be OK though.
Other than that Photoshop Elements is a low cost option to buy. It even often comes free with pc peripharals or relevant βhow toβ books. It doesnβt have anything like the full functionality of PSβ¦ but the essentials are there, including multi-layer capability.
If you just want to tweek overall picture colour / exposure, etc quickly & simply download a freeware image viewer program called Irfanview (itβs also unliscensed to Microsoft, so same as above appliesβ¦ but itβs cosha). Altho I donβt use the image adjustment feats much now I have PS, I still use it as my default image viewer: itβs sharper & more user friendly than the default Windows picture viewer in XP, and has some neat little extra feats.

Yeah, I know what you mean. But Downloads.com is a well known site, run by CNET, who are a massive international company who own pretty much everything that Microsoft doesn't. Such as Last FM for example. Actually dependeding on what sort of person you are that may reassure you or alienate you! It alienates me (Fat Cats are dodgy fawkers in my book) but I still use downloads.com and haven't had any probs with any software off of there. Still a good idea to scan the files with your anti-virus / anti-malware programs as soon as you download them though.
I pretty much stopped using Last FM when they bought it out though. Fortunately I got one of the last free Spotify accounts soon after, which is better anyway.

Lovely piece. I really like the textures, it makes it quite a spooky piece (yes- in addition to it being a graveyard shot)

Oh, like an album cover you mean? No, it isn't... just another edit. Altho' Azadeh is a musician... there's a link to her band's site in my 'artists comment' on this peice. The band (Razorbladekisses) do have a new album coming out soon, as it happens.
I'm going to be doing some live photos at one of their gigs on Saturday night... watch this space!
