Hatsune Miku's popularity certainly hasn't reached every country and city in the world. Still, that should not deter you from becoming a fan! (Though I must agree, it would be much better one is able to find other friends with similar interests. Otherwise, there's always DA!

I just wish the other Vocaloids would get more popular too. And UTAUs. There were I go to school now some people know about Vocaloid... Though they aren't people I usually talk to (and they sometimes depress me (not Otaku ulture related.)
I also almost fan raged at one of them mistaking Ruko for Zatsune.
DA and the internet in general is great (as it is there where I have most of my friends :3 )

There are really many UTAU characters, I find them a little hard to track. That aside, I like the character design for Ruko, especially her eyes (really looks like suiseiseki from Rozen Maiden!)

I've gotten some pre-owned figurines from Mandarake in the past. Occasionally a good deal would come by, and you'll need quite a bit of luck to snag it before the item is gone.

I got my Kagamii and Konata Compitq Nendoroids from there. I don't really have any interest in the Family Mart Miku though.

I remember the Compitq versions (among the others too, all labelled with a,b,c.. at the back of their numbers) for Konata and Kagami, they are really cute! Mandarake can be quite useful when hunting for old releases or rare ones~
