no housing, most olympics sized pools have viewing windows build into the side. Shot this through the glass.

Well I was going to remove all the colour apart from the swimmers eyes, blur everything and give it a sepia overlay, but I figured that would be pushing the current "wedding photo" trend to much.

I don't really compete anymore, but I was quite the freestyle sprinter, and was pretty good at short distance butterfly. Okayish in backstroke, and god awful in breaststroke.
But don't compete anymore.... my community college doesn't have a team, and I'm quite out of practice to be with the University team.
What do you swim?

I'm still a competitive swimmer but I'm long distance, 200's to 500's freestyle and 100 Back. I can butterfly but not for long and breaststroke.. oh god I look like a drowning frog.

I'm right with you on breaststroke. I've had to do a couple 200's and 500's in my day..... not fun. But hey, they sure made me appreciate my sprinting. ^ ^

RianOkami In reply to CrystalRedRoses [2011-08-22 06:31:36 +0000 UTC]
^ ^ No worries. I loved sprinting. It felt the closest thing to flying, without having a jet pack or driving a fast car. I loved it. Sadly, I'm probably not going to be back in the water for a while still.... I was swimming before my arm injury in June, and I'm just waiting for the skin to get some strength back and close up some more. But it's doing pretty good considering. Just gotta be patient and let it heal.

CrystalRedRoses In reply to RianOkami [2011-08-22 06:33:20 +0000 UTC]
Oh dear, I'm sorry about your arm, those are the worst injuries to get as a swimmer, what happened?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
RianOkami In reply to CrystalRedRoses [2011-08-22 06:43:09 +0000 UTC]
An ATV fell on my right wrist, resulting in a compound fracture of both bones, but my ulna not only stuck out, but came back in and shattered. Both poked out but came back into place.... sorta. Fortunately, I kept my cool and did what I could to help, even though it took 3 trips to 3 separate hospitals. It was a long few days.
The scabs are falling off, but I'm playing it safe and letting the scar areas strengthen and tighten before getting in the pool I go to ( I have no clue what their chlorination schedules/levels are like, and it's a campus recreation pool..... god knows what's in the water.) I'm starting to work it more.

CrystalRedRoses In reply to RianOkami [2011-08-22 06:52:02 +0000 UTC]
Oh my lord, that sounds... utterly gruesome. I'm sure it was a long few days after that. Letting the scars strengthen is definitely a good idea, too much chlorine with sensitive skin could make for some very bad complications.
I ripped my shoulder completely out of socket last summer, which wouldn't have been too bad but when they reset the bone it splintered and that one was nasty to recover from. And the worst possible thing in the case of your arm would be infection so staying out of the water is probably your best bet.
