there's some composition techniques when you want to make these illustrations. Try studying some rules like rule of thirds, golden rule, and some cover and pinups rules about groups interaction on paper

Great designs. I really like the two closer girls on the right, the ones sitting and standing, look great.

On a critique note, I think that this illustration is a little clustered and some elements are pretty hard to see (like the dark skinned dragon chick. Aside from that it's very well drawn and have and impressive amount of details and work !

I dont think its much of an issue. If he decided to color it, a lot of elements would be made to stand out more on their own. Without color, of course things are hard to distinguish with ease.

I' m not sure that this picture was meant to be colored with all these cross hatches, though.
