What I really don't like in Slayers anime is, the downgrades of the power of Ra Tilt (and other magics that Zel uses). Isn't Ra Tilt at the same level of Dragon Slave in Shamanism Spell? Ra Tilt should be more powerful in anime! Doubled Ra Tilt with Amelia should be as powerful as Doubled Dragon Slave....that's what I thought....Original fic: Castle of Ecstasy written by QP/diana 1996-1997

Oh yeah. That's because Zel and other supportive characters' ability underplayed in anime due to the rule of thumb 'Hero(Heroine) should be the most powerful and be spotlighted(<--a way to make a show be simple and easy to develop)'

Ra Tilt is Shamanism spell. Dragon Slave - Black Magic. I mean... if we come to Astral World and cast Ra Tilt then it will be a big barabum, just like if we cast Dragon Slave in Slayer's World.
Zel is awesome! It is going to be fun in case their spell ricochet towards Lina)

Such many staffs are involved in creation of Slayers world....That caused confusion in the interpretation of magic systems & its power degree, I guess....But still I think some magics should have been more powerful in the series X3

Ra Tilt should be much more powerful in anime and, what is more, I think there should be shown a difference between Amelia's and Zel's Ra Tilt. He is more powerful than her, but in fact she can cast his the best spell. To put it simply, I want more Zel in Slayers anime

Yes I think Amelia's and Zel's Ra Tilt be different, too. And...at least doubled Ra Tilt should destroy a mid-class mazoku easily. Even Hellmaster felt it would be risky if he's attacked by doubled dragon slave. Why Doubled Ra-Tilt is.....(sigh)
We need more Zel in anime! But not like in Revolution/Evolution series....I was upset Zel had a very hard time against a mid-class mazoku which he killed in novel vol. 6....=w=;;

I've been also upset by Zel in Revolution/Evolution. Kanzaka-sensei has created such a wonderful characters... Maybe one day they'll do something more with more Zel

Slayers characters are really something...so noticeable, remarkable, unforgettable and full-life characters. Probably the REV/Evo staff had too low energy to revive the Slayers....(sigh) Hope some staff becomes interested in me and contact!

Yeah! There have been so many talented fans in global Slayers fandom with decades of the fan history. I've thought what if the screenwriter of Revo and Evo-R have read QP sama's fanfics. She wrote so many brilliant fics in JAPANESE so there would be no language barrier or something for him...If he'd read them, he would've dare tried to write Zel/Rezo relationship so shallow....(sigh) I thought Zel in Evo-R looked a bit out of character like an OC....

I wish I knew Japanese and Korean... I would love to read QP sama's fanfics. I know her only from your fanmangas, but those storylines are genious. Relations between characters are so deep and everybody has his/her moment. Zel/Rezo relationship is such a brilliant topic and Evo-R treated it really poorly :/ It had such a potential... When I sometimes saw Zel in Evo-R I almost wanted to cry and ask, Zel what have the done to you? Sigh...

You know. Dragon Slave for slaying a dragon. It's about a catchy spell name.

the strange thing ist, it´s compared as the "Spiritual" opposite of the Dragon Slave, but it´s just for irritating the enemy. Screentime, as you say. and THAT´s just.....stupid? (I like Lina, but the way the creator evolved her is just ....sad?)

It would be unfair if ther wasn´t an understandable reason for the author to make her like that. I mean, it´s just the way main character had been made by the creators in the 90´s and early 2000´s... Just think of Son Goku and Vegeta. Vegeta is actually completly able to have the same power as goku, but in the course of the story he went from "a serious obstacle" to a "oh I hate it how Goku is better than me, I am such a weakling, *cries*" guy. Like: "oh, well, the second characters are tough guys, too, but there aren´t the main character who MUST BE surpreme at any cost.
lucklily, that kind of thinking change nowadays....at last, it´s what I hope for (but that doesn´t count fot the creator of slayers who are made by that thinking of that time....)
Besides, I don´t watch R-Evolution and Evolution-R because of the way they envolved Lina to be the absolute overpowered Magician. Gourry became completly useless without his Sword of Light and don´t mention Amelia and Zelu who are nothing more than bait for the enemy to let her cast her Dragon Slave or Giga Slaye or whatever. And, look, THERE is the next thing: right after Next she´d casted Giga Slave like Goku change into SSJ. Well, what happened with the "The world can be destroyed"-thing? ô_o°

You call it understandable reason but for me it's not. I agree with you about what respective authors made with Slayers and Dragon Ball but still for me it's not only bad but stupid. Just lame. Creating only one almighty character is too childish. That's not how the world goes. Stories where we have only one superhero, person who can do almost anything and the rest of the world is useless, a background, sidekicks and so on, are simply boooring! But still it's only my opinion.

I am always here to exchange opinions about stories of all kind- counts for the one I like the most. I might sound like a granny when I say "in my time we´ve done this a lot"- but it´s not done these times anymore (sadly). There are essays witten about the meanings of symbols used in NGE. And we discussed a lot about these and that in Dragonball, Slayers and NGE and stuff. but that time seems to be over, sadly.
I have a very hard time to express my thoughts since English isn´t my native language. I am German, originally. so please have mercy with me :3
to your response: I didn´t say it wasn´t stupid, I said it was the way stories went that time. Most of the creator stopped focusing too much on a main character and took care for a good balance, others are too timid to change from an old, but "used-to-work"-system. And that´s an iconic, overpowered and almighty character.
And here is the point why Doujinshi and Fanfiction works better than the originial: because fans give a shit on an allmighty character but love a good story. Besides, that´s why you and me are here, right?
Also, I have to take up the cudgels for the creator since it´s really hard to tell a fantasy story with a strong minded and powerful character in a balancing way. As me, I am struggle with that "almighty problem" ever since I started mine. I am trying to give it a better structure, but I end up with thinking how disgusting I am putting the handful of people she loves and trusts in a huge danger and even try to destroy her inner self. aaaand I end up to make her "recognizing". and afterwards, I am thinking: well, you have a great idea, but what the fuck are you doing?!
If you LOVE a story to much and/or having a too big expectition on it, you might end up with the sue problem.

i would say her dragon is impressive except i've seen how they actually turn out. way to destroy a town Naga. as for the Ra Tilt... OF COURSE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COOLER!!! in the words on my daughters favorite pony "It needs to be 20% cooler"
