Thanks! Setting up the shot was a pain in the ass (I'd forgotten my tripod) but it seems to have worked out.

Absolutely wonderful photo. I love the point of view. It creates such a mysterious and powerful vibe as you feel the mansion looming over you. I love it.
On a side note-- I've always really wanted to go there. Was it as exciting as you expected?

I was really tired that evening (and I'd already been there, anyway) but had a great time regardless because I was with a different group and had a more competent camera than what I'd used on prior occasions. The 'House itself is always daunting and impressive; tours move fast enough that it's difficult to see everything in one go.

Awesome shot! that's right by my town, so to see a local shot like that, is really cool! did you use any special filter or lens? this pic look a tad grainy, but in a good way, it's not the least bit blury, and the angle's awesome!(it looks really creepy too!)

eurai In reply to DramaThrills [2006-12-19 10:01:40 +0000 UTC]
Naw -- no special filter. I used the 10mm end of a 10-22mm lens (ultra-wide angle) and shot up from a low perspective (hence the distortion). It's admittedly a combination of two exposures: a longer one for the clouds, as they were only barely illuminated, and a shorter one for the House itself.
Thanks!

how do you get soooo much linear distortion? it works
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
eurai In reply to Euphorianism [2006-12-05 01:29:24 +0000 UTC]
An ultra wide-angle lens (~16-35mm) + shooting up (around 30-45 degrees) from low vantage points (2 feet from the ground or so, in this case).
Thanks!

Well more so those ad's that you get on a full page when you're not signed up to DA (or not logged in) it had the cat DD scream on it, and something about buying prints and how it's good lol.
Maybe if you log out you'll see it!

'Kay, I really like this for many reasons. The tones! The tones! Ah, the tones. Goes fantasically (good word) with the colours, which are oh-so-fitting. And the angle is lovely, and its awesome how the image looks warped - what lens did you use? I reeeeeeeeeeeallly like it. Its great. And captures the whole creepy, scary mood. Love it.

I used a 10-22mm (~16-35mm) lens. I covet increasingly wide angles.
Thanks a lot!
