Description This image isn't intended to convey or align itself with any ecological, political, or otherwise contemporary ideology regarding its namesake. Autumn and I met a woman in northwestern Death Valley who, while buried within the apparently confounding cavern of shade masquerading as the driver seat of her sport utility vehicle, had forgotten what day it was. Our relatively fresh leave from southern California imbued us with the confidence to answer incorrectly: "um, Sunday, and I think that it's the seventeenth." She then remarked that she'd lost track of time, having driven there from Iowa, and that the relative change in weather she'd experienced was temporally disorienting. Her unexpected paradise must've seemed alien, as did ours at Mono Lake -- a sort of personal climate change.

Wow, so this is Death Valley!! Doesn't look nearly as desolate as I would have imagined. The terrain gives the photo such amazing visual texture. The soil and land definitely appears dead, greying, brownish. But the colors suggest anything but death. What a great contrast.

Haha, dammit; I shouldn't have mentioned Death Valley in its description. This shot depicts Mono Lake (which lies on the western side of a mountain range whose eastern border is Death Valley). Regardless: thanks!

What an impressive landscape, the name of Death Valley suits it well! Great picture with great colors.

Oh, this wasn't shot in Death Valley -- whoops (but it's relatively nearby); the setting pictured is that of Mono Lake . Thanks!

Great scene and I like she is looking away into the view. What and amazing place and the perfect time to take photos!

Thanks! We were lucky; I hadn't anticipated we'd have enough to light to shoot anything and would instead just wander around.

The colors in this are quite striking, as are the reflections at various points in the water. Nice shot

Wow, the red hair real is in contrast to the cool colors of the surrounding landscape. Love it.

She's my favorite model for a variety of reasons, but that's one of 'em. Thanks!

So do I! I mean, the atmosphere itself, not the photograph attempting to depict it. Thanks.
