Colored Pencil + Soft Pastel
Black Paper

So this was a completely spontaneous and random exercise, and I know, something completely different from my usual portraits.
I was having tea with some lemon last night (yum!) had grabbed the apple for a snack, set mug and apple on the table and noticed the cool reflection it cast. I though “how neat”, grabbed the lemon, and lo and behold same thing happened on the other side. I lit it with my table lamp to give it some more dramatic shadows, and this was the result. Was quick and painless, and I had fun doing the apple. I’m sorry that the mug looks a bit drunk, it was beyond me how to do all the intricate shadows properly… and the lemon was a bit ambitious and out of my league, but you get the drift, I hope.

WOW! This piece is absolutely amazing! You're really good with oil pastels! I'm trying them out myself, do you use turpentine, or anyone for that matter, do make the pastel softer and easier to blend, I heard that turpentine helps a lot with that.

EuroFoxx In reply to Amacito-Productions [2008-08-31 20:12:28 +0000 UTC]

They're actually the chalky pastels, not oil pastels. If I were to try oil pastels, I probably would use turpentine though, just so that they'd be easier to blend

This is beautiful - but I cant see it in your gallery. I am really confused. I think I have just been faving some old stuff, but it needed doing anyway, so thats cool!

EuroFoxx In reply to Yamenja [2008-03-24 19:59:54 +0000 UTC]

Yeah some of it was older, some of it's new-ish... the newest things are this, Wentworth, and the glass... can't remember what else, since I haven't really drawn all that often in the last few months
This one's tucked somewhere half way down my gallery... I played around with the order of the deviations, and now I can't get them to go back from newest to oldest

EuroFoxx In reply to Yamenja [2008-03-24 21:58:00 +0000 UTC]

Uh huh... of course, now that I messed them around and want them back, there's no way the damn things are co-operating with me

Spidergirl79 [2008-03-19 01:59:47 +0000 UTC]

How lovely...great job on the cloth they are sitting on and the reflection of the lemon. THis is what I enjoy about your art. One time its a pencil portrait, the next time its a color pencil portrait...and sometimes still life! So much talent & variety!

EuroFoxx In reply to Spidergirl79 [2008-03-20 01:18:20 +0000 UTC]

Haha I'm glad you like the variety, since I'm bored easily and always want to try different things... so look out for some other random stuff in the not so distant future
