Well, I didn't get in to the MegaMan Tribute book....bugger. I saw some of the work that didn't make it in and some of it is amazing, such a shame in some cases. But man, that wait to find out who got in was heinous, swear to god...could they delay it any longer, 2 MONTHS DELAY! Pfft, over it in the first month. Anyway, congrats to everyone who entered and to those who got accepted.This piece was titled "Burning Down the House".
I don't think I've busted my arse off on any other works as I have on this, lately.
I based my piece from the end of Megaman 2 after Wily had been defeated. I realise rush was never in MM2 but I figured he'd be a cool addition to the piece alongside the blue bomber. The characters have deliberately been painted to look like the old school sprites. My main focus was on the castle (obviously), making it look as dark and brooding and on fire as possible.

Even after winning the game, you'd think Dr Wily would learn...even after 10 consecutive beat downs (12 including power battles/fighters)

And don't forget the five or so GameBoy games. You know, the ones with the Mega Man Killers? That makes it around 17!
And Rush looks so adorable with his chibi face! Even though he wasn't in Mega Man 2, he's still a heck of a lot cooler than Item-2 (though he is a bit slower).

Damn, why'd this get rejected?! Were they afraid this portrays Mega Man as a dick? I mean, it can't be easy to keep on finding Fee Simple land and building a Skull Castle up from scratch.

They don't say why. They approve it then they send off to Capcom to get them doubly approved. Although most of the accepted list seemed they were guys who were already established in the comic industry or have been in previous tribute books. Oh well, can't win 'em all.
Nah, land prices would be bugger cheap on dangerous mountain tops. and building skull castles is a cinch, it would've sucked the first few times but you'd just do a minor variation of the past ones and get the robots slaves and masters to build you a new one...or he has them ready to go and flies them in from some random location... wow too much detail in that but thanks for the support

Wow, this is really impressive! The flames and shiny lights look very realistic, and that water at the bottom was a nice touch. ^u^
