Funny, that. I was writing a fanfic in my head last night where Kanako thought she was a failure because she had alienated Sanae (she wouldn't let her associate with the tengu) and all but broke down crying, with Suwako consoling her. It ended with Kanako acknowledging her hubris, and Suwako admitting her hatred for her essentially taking away her shrine, her reputation, and eventually, her descendant. (I don't know if that's even close to canon or not, I don't care).
I love Kanako, she's awesome, but let's be frank, she has an ego the size of Youkai Mountain, and is a little reckless. She could stand to be deflated. Just a pinch, mind you.
