Haha, I also thought this was going to be a Vashta Nerada reference.
(The Vashta Nerada are an alien race from the British science fiction show Doctor Who. Β They are living shadows that can strip flesh from bone quicker than piranhas. Β In one episode, a group of archaeologists go to explore an abandoned library in space and are attacked by these creatures, leaving several members of the team as skeletons in space suits, which the shadows then use to walk around and communicate with the remaining team members.)
This is a really good painting, though. Β I love the light/dark contrast and the flecks of blue and orange. Β
