Description Although I do not usually show a sculpture in such an early stage, I really liked the composition and feel already. This is a water clay sculpture about 3 by 2 feet in length. Once I get the measurements and design more realized I hope to refine all the elements. I will sink the bodies in and puff up the bedding and make fabric wrinkles as well as refining the couple’s anatomy.

Reminds me of a certain type of late medieval/renaissance era tomb sculpture, which would show the deceased in a state of decomposition...

Looks great!

3 by 2 feet in length? Is that a work for a client?
I'm just asking, because it would be taking up a lot of space for "just" being a personal project.
Or is space (or the lack of) not a problem where you live?

Wow this is an amazing work already.
You immediately start aksing questions and thier "deadness" feels real and immediate.
Whats amazing about that is that not only do you have to instill the implication that there is life, but that profound silence and stillness that comes with its passing.

This piece is very bitter sweet, you have the slightly macabre feel as both characters are little more than shrivelled corpses, but the most powerful part of the sculpt for me has to be the hands holding one another, almost like a sign of love and devotion that goes beyond death.

Outstanding work and wonderful concept.

Oh my, this is already an incredibly powerful piece - I am very much looking forward to seeing the completed project. Do you have an idea as to where this would be displayed yet? Barrie

Thanks Barrie - I am so glad to read this kind of feedback so far. Sadly I will have to put this one on the back burner for some time...but it is my favorite work I have done up to this point - concept wise. Just hope I can reach the technical level I imagine in my head. I have no plans yet where it would be displayed.

I don't think I'd every realized just how large your sculptures were, but that does explain the incredible detail that they so often (read: always) have.

This is looking fabulous, in message and execution.
