Cephalopod for RevolutionSF's Ambergris contest. [link]Yupo paper... you are very odd. An odd duck, Yupo.
I thought, "This is a quick contest thing... why not use this excuse to mess around with that Yupo pad I've had since 2005?" So the second iteration of Evan-on-Yupo-[non]Paper (One of the scrollquest elements had some yupo w/ colored pencil).
Watercolor over pencil on this crazy polymer sheet. You get some crazy water reticulation and mottling with this stuff. Wonder how alcohol would react with it...

I was going to say the blue part of the background is a bit distracting, but considering you were working with such a new, tricky surface i'd say you did a super job! Love the concept and the way the light bulbs glow. Plus the expressiveness of the squid and the cool textures you got on it are great!!

If you look in the squid's eye, you can tell he's really VanGogh. Or maybe it's just me because it reminds me of Starry Night so much. Except with a squid on top.

Don't think something I do should ever be compared to a Van Gogh, but that's beautiful to hear. : ) Most things are better with squid, however.

...stupid story actually... i was collecting shells and i found a hole at the sea bottom, full of shells... so, i put my hand in and started picking up some shells... and then i see smt weird below... basically it was an octopus, but ok, whatever has tentacles is bad news for me.
