I think this Scourge is a remnant of old Mobius and somehow ended up in the GoTF version of Earth thanks to Anarchy Beryl and the Super Genesis Wave.

I am a 30 year old man.Β I started fan girling all over the place with a high pitched and surprisingly feminine voice at the sight of THE Scourge confirming he is the same one from the Archie comics.Β I read about some of the reasons behind the massive genesis wave reset.Β I don't know about how many or what characters Archie lost but at least now I can enjoy the fact that the absolute best one will live on in this freaking awesome comic.Β Thank you EvanStanely.Β Best Christmas present ever.

Yeah the idea is that all the different Sonic continuities exist as alternate universes, a shared multiverse. I've included GOTF in that for the purposes of the story.

I commented earlier on a different page that the Sonic in Metal Sonic was probably from the Archie Universe, thus HE knows Scourge, while our Sonic doesn't know him. Understand now???
