Description
A variant cover I painted around winter break (2015) for Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog issue 285, available August 2016!I did a lotta digital painting that winter, this is one of the first digital paintings I've done that I've been happy with, despite all the little goofs I can see. Enjoy!

In my feed, the thumbnail made me think that was some sort of Cybertronian. Wasn't expecting to see the Gaia Colossus instead.
I guess it really has been that long since I've seen the Colossus. I haven't played Sonic Unleashed in, like, years, and I haven't been following the Archie comic books lately. They doing/have done an Unleashed adaptation? lol

I love how you hid your name in there in plain sight. It just fits so well. I think the lighting and everything about it looks great. It really has a 3D effect in it and pops.

I drew and painted this in Photoshop CS6, I think-- just using the default brushes and settings. I work digitally with a Wacom Intuos 5 tablet.

Whoa. Yeah, I'm still super behind in the issues. This one, of course, makes sense with the Werehog stuff when I was reading. Maybe I'll do that today. I really ought to catch up, even if I may not enjoy it. The series just isn't the same anymore. It makes me sad.

Is it wrong that every time I see the Gaia temples merged like that I can't help but think the Transformers theme song in my head?
Love the picture. Sonic's expression is half amazed, half bewildered, which is about how I looked when I hit that spot in the game. The lighting effect looks so cool too.
