Description holy crap 2000 pageviews!!!!!!this pic was gonna be my 1666 pv one, but im kinda lazy this took so long to finish mostly because of my procrastination. i drew the lineart in bio like a month ago>_______< i got another bg that looks like a cross, which wouldve been even more symbolism that the wall. the writing in his head i got from 12 inch mouse^^maybe im goin crazy but on the preview, this writings in italics

Alright! This one turned out great! Shinji got a great coloring job, and the background colors work nicely with the entire piece.
The mask was a great idea, and so was the red, bit like spread. Awesome piece, but, it would be amazing if just a few changes or additions were considered. First, GAH!!! Whats with the text on Shinji's face!!?? The piece would look fantastic if there was no tect at all, just the great drawing. You can keep the text, but at least blendit in with the background, and not directly on Shinji's face! I won't mess with the way Shinji's torso gets cut off, but it is a little ugly the way it doesn't blend at all.

first, i did blend the bottem, but it ended up being uglier than without it. and second, i like the text. its like a mask. symbolism is a huge part of eva, everything down to what people say to where the camera is pointing. shinji is covered by a mask of this text, nerve, asuka, rei, everyone-they all confuse shinji. his life isnt even real. its just a mask, a mask of the things around him, in his head. so the text represents the mask, the hiding, the life of young shinji ikari, a joke, a lie, a weird little angsty teenage dream, or is it real? not even i know, but there is definately a mask around shinji that prevents him from being happy. thats what the text symbolises.

Whoa, nice. I overlooked symbolism i guess, but still, while i'm sure in your mind the text is essential to the piece, this is just my opinion in that the effect could still be achieved, and maybe not be so ugly. But that depends on what piece your looking for i guess. I always imagined this one as one to express silent symbolism, but if you feel more apparent symbolism is the way to go, then great. Oh and don't mistake what i said about blending, i don't mean the blend tool!!! I meant just lessening the contrast between the torso and the background, so it doesn't look so 2D.
