She probably is just a human, but the addition of the leg equipment makes people assume she's an android. Thanks for pointing it out, I will fix that.

My theory is that Chell has those things on her legs so that she can fall from far distances (not to mention falling very quickly, too) and not get injured. Maybe they also make her always land on her feet, like a cat.
