“I hope they still have those gummy worms…“

You, a typical girl who likes sweets , were going to the store not far from your apartment in the evening to buy some candy for yourself . It was Halloween and all the little kids went to houses, apartments to scare the living hell out of adults and get some candy. You were past that age of trick-or-treating but a little candy wouldn’t hurt ,right ?

“I wonder what movie should I watch? “ You opened the door to the store and straight like a dart went to the confectionary section.

Your eyebrows rose up as you saw that nearly all the sweets were taken, it even looked as if some bandits raided the place. Half of a “Snickers“ bar was lying on the ground, gummy bears scattered, they’re once adorable faces were now grimacing at you, even some “Skittles“ bags were ripped open and left on the floor.

“And I thought I was crazy about candy…. “ Walking through the candy cemetery you still had hope that there were some gummy worms left.

After 5 minutes of searching you didn’t manage to find any gummy worms. A little saddened you thought about buying something else. No candy because there wasn’t any decent candy left. Sighing you went to the juice section and took a juice pouch , got some cookies and went to pay for them. On your way you passed the candy section again and gawked when you saw that ….. everything, every piece of candy were in their place, there were even new types added.

“ What the?...It’s not Christmas so this can’t be a miracle, and either way I don’t believe in miracles.“ Taking a paper bag you inspected the sweets. Eventually you shrugged it off and took what you were here in the first place. Unknown to you a certain treat fell into the paper bag.

Exiting the shop you looked at the sky and saw that it was already very dark. Children wandered the streets dressed as monsters, teenagers were gathering for a party. You could even hear someone fake high pitched screaming and laughter following it. Finally you set of for home. Humming a tune you were passing a street but suddenly stopped. There was a gang of guys smoking at the corner. You could take another path to get home but you would have to walk alongside the forest and you didn’t like the feeling it gave off. If you would go this way you would risk yourself getting attacked or even worse.

In the end you were walking alongside the forest, cautious for anything, the sound of fallen leaves on the pavement being crushed under your feet gave that eerie atmosphere. Trying to calm yourself you took out some candy and ate it .

*snap*

You look behind yourself…

And see 5 long dark shadows. It was the gang from before.

“Ok, either the guys from before are going the same way or….I just should get the hell out of here“

Speeding your pace you try to get far away from them as possible.

*snap, snap the twigs and leaves go *

At this point you yet again had to choose. Either continue fast walking or even try running the same way or….go into the forest and hide until they go away. Needless to say , you chose the later.

*Time skip 5 minutes *

“Darn it . We lost her.“

“Maybe we shouldn’t waste our time on this“

The guys went away but you stayed hidden just in case. As you start to stand up something stops you.

A hand was put on your shoulder.

You freeze for a few seconds . The hand or claw as you felt, grabbed you tighter and …dragged you into the forest. You started screaming but to dismay no one was coming as you were being pulled by who knows what. The claws were digging into your clothes and even flesh. You could feel your arteries punctured through, blood sipping down your leg.
One thing you knew for certain…You were NOT gonna go down without a fight . Kicking and flailing you tried to harm your attacker as best as you could.

“Ugh!“ you were thrown on the cold ground . Staring at you were two white orbs for eyes. You layed still. It was unbearably dark and you couldn’t see the creature fully. The eyes were getting closer. It was circling you like a predator.

You shudder as you feel the creature’s breath on your ear.

“Hmmm..whaat a delicious meal I have ! “ it says with it’s cracking voice.

*Crunch*

He bits on your right ear.

Holding the scream you clench your fists. Then…

He tears the ear off.

You scream like a madman , push the being down and start running deeper into the forest. Because of your fear and pain and also the dark you couldn’t focus on where you were going not to mention that your leg was also injured. You clenche your right ear with your hand as you run . Warm blood dripping down your arm makes you a little sick.

After some running you collapse under a tree, whimpering . You rip some of your shirt fabric and wrap it around your head and leg.

“Gagh..Stings like hell“

“…..“

“ What I’m I supposed to do now ? That creature is out there, I lost my ear, my leg is injured and it’s freaking Halloween so maybe there are some other things lurking in the darkness? “ You quiver at the thought.

“…..“

“ And to think that all of this happened because I wanted some fucking candy….“ You laugh bitterly.

“……“

You close your eyes .

*Step step step *

“My my ¬ What do we have here?“

You look towards the voice.

“….“

“I can see you, you know¬“ singed the voice.

“Perhaps I should shed some light on you “

You hear a cling and your eyes narrow at the light.

“ Take your time to adjust“

When your vision became steady you saw that the light was coming out of a lantern. You’ve never been so excited in your life to see a lit candle. It’s little light caressed your bruised face and gave you the will to look up at its wielder.

A purple coloured coat was adorning the strange man. You could see that he also wore black pants, gloves and a vest with a celtic clock attached to the fabric directly where his supposed heart would be. He also wore a hat with a similar colour to his coat.

His face was….actually there was no face to describe. It was just a dark cloud or mist covering the head.

“ May I ask what you are doing here miss?“ You feel him grin at you.

“I…I want to get out of this forest but I don’t know which way t..to go“ you stutter.

The man looks at you for a moment then stands up straight.

“What if I told you there is no way to get out?“

“ ….What do you mean … no way out?“ Your eyes widen in fear.

He sighs “ I believe you know that today is Halloween Miss. On this day many humans fall into traps set by demons “he chuckles“ you were one of the unlucky who got dragged in to be eaten.

“How do I prevent that !?“ you scream.

He crouches to your height again and puts a hand on your head petting you.

“ You can’t “

Black smoke envelopes you as he takes of his hat. Your body begins to twist in various ways.

*crack,snap * your bones were slowly being twisted. A horrifying expression was plastered on your face as you saw your own flesh being ripped. Blood everywhere.

“S..top..“

*SNAP*

“ Ahh what a splendid meal¬ .“

“Hey, have you heard ? They found chewed up bones of a girl in the forest.“

“ Yeah I heard of that ! Apparently the bones were also broken in some way and they were found yesterday ! A day after Halloween.“

“Creepy.“

“Oh I also heard that the police found a bag with live worms near the remains“

“Worms?“

“ Yeah , the weird part was that the bag also contained gummy worms along with the living worms. The police also checked the company that make them but…..it doesn’t exist“
