Description (Edit 1: Ack i flipped the picture the wrong way! Just gonna… flip that back…”)

Ack, I finally finished! This was made for a secret santa on the Wings of Artists discord server. I haven’t really posted recently, just kind of got lazy and didn’t draw for a while. I joined the secret santa to get myself to draw again, so, drawing!

The Character is a dragon named Dusk, which was made by Monsoon.

Drawing process

I began the drawing by first sketching out the character, and then I sketched out the back ground, but then the character didn’t match the background so i had to shift the character around to make it fit the perspective. And then i discovered there was a perspective drawing assist thingy on Procreate which showed me that literally everything in the background was facing the wrong way so i had to delete and change and move a bunch of lines- Perspective is agonizing. Which is why most of my drawings are headshots.

The lineart phase went pretty smoothly! Until i came across the character paws and realized I didn’t actually draw them well in the sketching phase, so i had to resketch them. Instead of sketching it out on the sketch layer however, i sketched it out on the lineart layer, which somehow worked.

Shading was, difficult? I’m not very used to shading backgrounds, so i just kind of slathered purple overlay everywhere and hoped for the best. The background was colored using greyscale, which was surprisingly easier than i thought. .

After I finished the main portion of the drawing, I messed around with color curves and added some glowy bits to make some points of interest shine and standout.

And voila, Thingy! Oh, I also put some small doodles in the background if you want to find all those. Some of them mean things, and some of them dont, but most of them usually mean something or reference something.

You know what, I’ll give a challenge! If anyone can translate the glyph between the christmas tree and wreath into English, I’ll give em a free head shot request. It should be pretty easy to figure out I think. Maybe? This is either going to be the hardest thing ever, or the easiest. If no one gets it for a while I’ll just start editing in hints to the description.

(Edit: This request challenge is probably going to be forgotten, its like 12 days, i think. Uh, you know screw hints. I want this challenge to just suddenly pop into feed within like 10 years from now because someone was curious enough to read the description of an ancient drawing i did. Cheers! you still have to translate it though.)

Once someone finds it I’ll post a link to the glyph sheet I used.

Anyways, thats about it, see you next post!
