I've been doing a lot of thinking lately.

Of course, I've had plenty of time to in here.  In this tight, enclosed, padded room, I really have nothing to do but think.

I've been deemed insane by my own family.  It's true I try to convince myself.  Those visions couldn't be true.  No, of course not.  You're in here for your own good. I sternly tell myself for the eight-thousanth time.  But there's always doubt.

I've heard about people like me.  Snippets of television news floating through doctors' heads.  But, no, I hadn't really heard them.  I was just insane, like they all had said.  But what if it was true?  Those other people called insane because of their own visions, I could find them, find someone who has these same things inside their head.

Someone who's had their night terrors come true.

Someone who's heard the screams of the dying, night after night until they couldn't take it anymore.

But no, I was simply insane.  That was the only truth I could bear.

The only truth that would give me something to live for.
