"Improvement over perfection" ~

Al is first and foremost a very friendly lion who likes to socialize. He is usually content with life and greets every new day and encounter with positivity and optimism (occasionally an annoying amount).

His cognitive skills are his forté as he soaks up knowledge and information like a sponge, often found with his head in a book or in a (sometimes heated) discussion with peers. The fact that it's impossible to know everything is something he finds intriguing as well as motivational and he actively seeks out new information about any sort of topic really. Without anything new to learn he's convinced he'd be bored out of his mind and in a constant horrid mood. Other than acquiring new facts Al is also very much into broader subjects such as philosophy and he harbors a special adoration for paradoxes. As he thinks there isn't always a right answer to everything and with his ability to rationalize and see things from many different perspectives he can keep a discussion going for hours if others let him.

As he prefers theory over practice he is only about averagely skilled in the practical use of his knowledge, such as spell casting, yet he is somewhat aware of his lacking ability in this area. When it comes to physical attributes, he isn't overly sporty and pretty much sticks with the only kind of exercise he likes in the form of Quidditch.

He is mainly focused on what's right in front of him. He doesn't necessarily seek out people in need of help, but should they come to him for it he'll more often than not drop whatever he was doing to aid that person. He isn't particularly mindful of whether other people find him annoying or dislike him, but he will not stand for others thinking wrongfully about his skills and what he can and cannot do. When it comes to regular interaction with peers as well as professors he is honest and blunt with his opinion also if it might be a little rough even with his friends. Don't expect him to sweeten things up or beat around the bush.

He's not very good around people who are down and where his pat on the back and optimistic comment is no help (as that is the only way he knows how to cheer people up). He works with his head and in situation of others' gloom he tends to say the wrong thing as he can be insensitive to the emotional side of problems.

Background
Born as the last in the line of three siblings, Alfred came into an Irish family of Jewish heritage. He was only a couple years old when his father got a medium level job that required a lot of travelling. Al's mother didn't want the kids' father to never be around and raise three little wizards on her own and instead the couple made the effort to move the whole family along. From that they all learned to live off a suitcase and on the move and to Alfie that is basically the only way he knows, Hogwarts being the most stable residence he's had.

Despite their mother having been introduced to the world of magic before bringing any of the children into the world, she isn't fond of it being used in the home and they all make an effort to keep the magic-wielding to a minimum (this only becoming relevant for Alfie last year when turning 17). This lead to the boys' activities either being sporty or studious, where Alfred and his eldest brother Niamh were prone to the later, Casper, the middle brother, taking up sports instead.

The three brothers' has always gotten along nicely and with a strong bond. This came naturally as they have inherited their mother's family-orientation and also because it was hard to create stable and deeper friendships outside the family when they were always moving across the Kingdom.

In school Alfred has always thrived, doing well both academically and socially. He got to feel what it was like seeing people on more regular and far-sighted terms and he loved it. With his great attitude towards all of his peers and his passion for studying he was elected head boy for his seventh and last year at the school on solid grounds. (Due to personal reasons he stepped down from the position late november.) On the romantic aspect Alfred had a very brief relationship in his 4th-5th year that was ended on mutual agreement (as far as he understands) and he has yet to have another encounter with romance since then. If professor crushes don't count of course.

More recently Casper moved in with his girlfriend back in Ireland quite soon after graduating Hogwarts this summer, and Niahm's winter wedding was a great success ~
