Description My first time drawing anime or manga based characters, this is a rough concept piece for one of two main protagonists in a web comic I'm writing. I'm rather proud of this one, and if all goes well, there's more to come!

Her name is Erika "Fairhair" Vintersdottir, meaning "Daughter of Winter", which plays into the story. A lot of research went into her character design. For example: The red tunic signifies her residence within the Danelaw, A historical territory within england that was settled by danish vikings. Red dye was easier to find and thus very popular in the dane law. Her blue trousers however are in a much more baggy style than what danes typically wore, this is because she is in fact Swedish originally, and these trousers were popular in eastern scandinavia at the time, as was the colour blue or green. I'm afraid to say that her hair is not historical however, but still very fashionable!
She wears wolf's fur(theΒ  paw came out so tiny :c), which plays into character themes both during and after character development in the story. She's meant to be a self sufficient and clever hunter, not just a brutish warrior, and she will adopt more wolven aesthetics as the story progresses. Her self sufficiency and love of the wild is meant to be reflected in the items on her belt, A water skin, showing that she expects to travel with limited supplies, and a hunting knife. She also has scratches and grime in a few places to highlight her wild nature.
She also wears men's clothing in this image to highlight her role as a warrior, but you may see her in cute scandinavian dresses and such later.
