This piece was done as a print for DragonCon 2015. After 10 hours' work, I completed this drawing only to discover that I'd used the wrong reference for the cadet (giving him the uniform of an Imperial combat driver, instead). Since the uniform is arguably the entire point of the illustration, I was forced to redraw the cadet (minus his head) on a separate sheet and Photoshop him into place for the final poster along with the graphics and text. And, it only took nine more hours to complete!
Update: After having failed to save a hi-resolution copy of the original version, I was forced to recreate the graphics in order to create a viable file for prints. Unfortunately, I didn't get it done in time for DragonCon 2015, so I'm exploring other print options. This is the updated image.
Update 2: Prints of this piece were made available at my booths at GenCon and DragonCon 2016. It is not currently available for online ordering, but if you would like one, please contact me at /everwho@comcast.net . The print is 11"x17".

I really love the look of this. You've got Vader's proportions just right, IMO - shoulder width, helmet shape, etc. And the detailing on the lightsaber is fantastic!

Well, I failed to save a hi-rez copy so I have to do it all again. There's no rest for the absent-minded.

You could enlarge it and then go in and clean it up. It's a lot of pushing paint around but it's easier than starting from scratch.

Not really. Enlarging from 72 will pixilate and blur the entire thing. I'd basically end up digitally repainting it which would takes days if not weeks. Redoing the graphics is a few hours' work, tops.

Sorry about the nine hour redo! If it makes you feel any better, it paid dividends.

Unfortunately, I wasted about 4 of those nine hours because I failed to save a hi-rez version for printing. I have to start over and do all the Photoshop elements again. When I'm finely done with this, it'll probably have something like 25 hours put into it. People better buy this damned thing is all I'm saying.

It just means I didn't have any for DragonCon 2015. I'll have them done at some point and might get them up online someplace. I'll certainly have them for next year's shows.
