That was really hard, and I don't think I quite got it right. I could have used a few more passes on it, I think.

The mace does lack a feeling of weight. It doesn't seem very heavy. More like a wand.

Of course it's a light mace which, in Pathfinder, only weighs 4 lb. It's not particularly heavy.

That might be it then. A few flanges help the blow, but too many I think would disperse it.

Well, I was thinking more in the execution of its design, but I guess you have a point. The weight is why I have her holding it so near the head.

One does have to allow for the fact you whipped it up at a con.
Of course, part of it is the character design. She doesn't dress like someone going into melee combat. So it's natural to think of it as a wand or something similar.

The dress was specific to the description of the character. I was given references. She's a cleric, so she's likely a primary spellcaster as opposed to a front-line fighter-type.
