Ben- Holy new characters, Batman!

It's a two for one deal: Casey and Jamie! Casey is a very obvious take on tabeltop gaming nerds and all other social sterotypes that they get saddled with. We've all got the nerd side of us, Casey just lives it. N003, 1337 FTW!

Jamie is other side of nerddom. Shes a bit more reseved, yet geeks out with very little provocation. She's a lot like me in some regards, finding much more solace in a book than trying to associate with 90% of the human race.

There ARE two sides to nerddom. I find it funny, because the two sides rarely meet.

Heh heh, I'm diggin' the "role-play" speak. You can tell these two don't get out much.

It's just that sometimes playing a game, you adopt a whole new language, and sometimes the way you talk to people outside of that group is affected by it.

Sounds a lot less funny when I explain it, but thank you nonetheless!

yeppers! he is the first one to meet the first female

jamie appeared in the 2nd comic back when I first started the project. But the first run of comics was terrible, so I scrapped them all, and redid them with what you see here it is a shame that it took so long for Jamie to get here, but good things come to those who wait!

Thatonegirludontknow In reply to Everyday-Grind-Comic [2010-06-26 04:15:23 +0000 UTC]

To be honest, I do that sometimes. I'm not proud of it. OTL
When certain situations come up, I think things I would only say on the internet. "Lol" comes up a lot, sadly. Sometimes something is so "lulzy," I accidentally say it out loud! "El oh el!" /facepalm (oh that's another one) Many different internet phrases cross my mind in daily life. My friend and I say "pwned" regularly.

Everyday-Grind-Comic In reply to Thatonegirludontknow [2010-06-26 06:07:51 +0000 UTC]

well, since we are being honest here, so do I I am not so bad with internet memes (guilty of /facepalm though) but rather with Old Timey sayings and such. "heavens to betsy!!!" and "sasparilla!" also just dumb old expletives "well isn't THIS a fine song and dance!" or "you really are the bee's knees!"

I like to be creative with the way I talk, but I turn that off when I first meet someone, I find being 100% myself is a good way to scare off people, but it often makes the best friends when I see they share my interests

Tarnation!

oh, and I say pwn too. That is just too hilarious!

Wow.

The style really has changed since then, huh?

Everyday-Grind-Comic In reply to KnebulaNight [2010-03-01 16:05:01 +0000 UTC]

Oh my yes. It boggles my mind, looking back on these. What's even wierder? This style is the "new and improved" from before. I had actually made 24 comics prior, before my editor and I decided that they were shite, and axed them all

They were MUCH simpler, only single shaded, and pretty boring layout. They were back before I knew what the hell I was doing, and looking back, so were these! I think 26-27 (so technically, 50! wow...)are when I started to hit my stride, but you never stop learning

One day I think I'll post some of the old ones, just for old time's sake

KnebulaNight In reply to Everyday-Grind-Comic [2010-03-01 17:51:44 +0000 UTC]

haha. nice.

But yes, while old stuff can be QUITE scary, it's enjoyable to know how much you improved. ^^

Everyday-Grind-Comic In reply to KnebulaNight [2010-03-02 21:20:07 +0000 UTC]

That's the joy I get. But it makes me wonder, as I look at my new stuff, and consider it my "greatest work", how long will it take for me to wonder what I was smoking when I thought it looked good? lol

KnebulaNight In reply to Everyday-Grind-Comic [2010-03-02 21:49:31 +0000 UTC]

haha, very true.

Same goes when I started my webcomic 3 years ago. It was SO out of place, the story was messed up, and not serious at ALL. Not to mention, my style was horrible. I'm so glad I decided to fix it up and start over.

Everyday-Grind-Comic In reply to KnebulaNight [2010-03-03 02:17:37 +0000 UTC]

It may be painful, but sometimes we have to scrap our work and start over. Getting too attached is never a good thing.

Oh, by the way, I have a question. How do you make those banners for the folders in your gallery? Are they banners put in with HTML, or what?

Oh, and another note, I will be starting on your request next week, disaster pending. I have 2 more to finish before I get there, jus FYI

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KnebulaNight In reply to Everyday-Grind-Comic [2010-03-03 03:35:35 +0000 UTC]

yeah, true.

The banners? Well, when you go into the folder, there's edit, and then options for that folder - text, arrange, and then Icon. Just upload an image that's 152x400 or less pixels right there.

If you're running Internet Explorer, you'll have to upload the image into the deviation box on the usual deviation submission page first.
