Description Warhammer 40K Bolt Gun Prop - WIP

Just something I have been messing around with the last few days. Made entirely from EVA foam (just like my M8 Assault rifles) Rather than inserting a metal skeleton in this one I just hacked up and modded a Nerf gun for the core and handle.

Day 3 Progress: Still a lot of detailing/paint to add but the base of the gun is now finished. Scope is removable. The emblems will be sculpted/cast and attached last.

How do you get your foam sanded so smooth?

Excellent model! Not to nerd out but I think it's a storm bolter if it has a scope on it.

Hi David!
I'm looking at creating some armor or accessories with EVA foam sheets like you have been doing, based on my own concepts.
I have 2 questions for you, if you can help me out.

#1 - What adhesives or glue are you using to bond the sheets together?
I've been searching and reading sites, and have not seen any references to what adhesives people are using. You mentioned your Mass Effect cosplay armor held up well, and I wanted to try using the same glue / adhesives. What would you recommend using?

#2 - How are you getting the mats to bend and hold their rounded shapes?
I refer again to your ME armor, the shoulder pads and chest plates?

Please reply if you can! Thanks! ^ ^

Holy titty fucking christ, that's awesome. I've had a 1/1 bolter on the to do list for years.

Never seen one done this well, well done Dave!

No plans for armor yet. May make a chain sword also but not sure yet.

i love 40k, and i approve of this ALOT, but i think it looks a little stubby, can you make the body a little longer?

I think it's the scope that makes it look more stout. It's to scale from the reference pics I was given. (based on new concept art from the upcoming Warhammer film)

that may be it,
what's the pictures your running reference from?
i find one of the most accurate references comes from just doing an image search on google, for "bolter"
first three of them have a good scale to the mini's
that said, i haven't seen the bolters for the ultramarine movie, they may be shaped differently

The images were emailed to me from the Ultramarine's production company. I also did image searches, but the new designs are a bit different, especially the chain sword design.

Your getting into 40k costuming? That sir, is epic.

For next year's Dragon*Con I am going to try and pull off a Fabius Bile costume.
