Description

She's a bat, so I gave her wings to fly! Though I would like to use a wing style of using her arms and chest as the rooting for the wings, the pose wouldn't show it off much. The wings are my own creation, so not as good looking as the rest of the piece.

Backstory:

An ancestor of the Sofhak line married to a woman who was cursed and transformed by a bat demon that resided in the shadowfell, their second daughter was also cursed with this transformation. Her brother became an adventurer in search for a cure to her curse and eventually made a pact with a devil named Gethouk to repress the demonic influence in his family line, his cost was servitude but the brother was more than willing to pay and eventually fulfilled his end of the bargain. Centuries later a mage hunter, Mendaf of the Crimson blade, slayed the devil Gethouk when it attempted to take over a small kingdom, thus ending the dark bargain and cursing Mendaf’s own second daughter: Atalaif.

Atalaif since her infancy was very in-tune with nature, often mocked for her bat-like features her family hid her away until the untimely destruction of their home when she was 4 years old. Growing up near Baldur’s Gate in a town named Muthmine, her father was retired from a long career of Mage hunting, a bounty hunter job that took contracts from the Council of Four to slay dangerous magic users. Atalaif’s childhood was slated to be a standard one save for her curse, her mother's upbringing as a scribe would ensure her education in history, religion, literature, and basic mathematics. Raised by her eight siblings she still received an education but was especially close with her brother Tzalef who would play music for her and taught her how to read. While most her siblings became paladins, clerics, rangers, and warriors: her and Tzalef had a different fate. Tzalef was seemingly cursed with physical weakness and eventually his desperation to protect and provide for his family lead to him forming a warlocks contract with a hexblade of a mysterious patron, this lead him to bounty hunter work as he used the very magic he hated to hunt down Mages. Atalaif's natural gift blossomed at a very early age and she became mentored by the emerald enclave, already a full druid by age 12 she became the envy of many and the fear of many more: afraid of how her beloved brother Tzalef would look at her if she openly used magic: she hid her gift from him as often as possible. Eventually her powers and connection with nature lead to a witch hunt against her.
